I find it very hard to discern what exactly the image is supposed to express and how to do it right.
The designers who did the Fellowship logo used this transition in slides. It should express: One Fellow, A Fellowship Group, Many many Fellows. So you are not alone, and every fellow adds something to the Fellowship... (do you now understand better?).
I think one of the problems has to do with the plussy creating an overly uniform impression when you clump it into a small group. Using the fixed boxes also creates a very bad sense of restriction, so I replaced them with something a bit arrow-shaped. This also got me rid of the arrows.
I like that arrow-shaped thing very much.
Still something was not right, so I found out that the plussy was not really square. After that, I tried to lighten up the "clumped" feeling of the large group, so I kept all at the same Hue, but changed the shade of green. I think this also adds a nice touch of diversity.
Looks good, with the differnt colors.
I've attached the "blank" version of my remix and one "fancy" version that adds some web2.0ish elements (shades and blur). Let me know if this is the right direction and what I can do better.
Could you try to make a version where in the last picture the Fellows are not outside of the "arrow-shaped thing"? So it has the same shape as the two before? It was in my draft only because I was not able to cut the pattern at the box burders :-/
I also found the colors for the Fellowship in our archive (I have not checked them, perhaps they have to be adjusted a little bit):
- SmartCard dark green & logo: 70,0,100,0 (CMYK), or Pantone: 361C
- RGB logo color: 99,152,41 (Web only)
Best wishes, Matthias
