I decided to accept this invitation and I attended the COSS board meeting last week. I told them about what FSFE has done recently in Europe an in Finland. Likewise I also got information about COSS status and planned events (e.g. MeeGo Summit FI, OpenMind, OpenSolutions, Linux 20-years party). Because of the date, there was also a lot of discussion regarding the "troijan" MS has sent to divert Nokia from its current pro-FOSS track.
I think being on the COSS board is a very good thing as I've been working for about a year to unite different FOSS communities in Finland and increase collaboration. I think we'll also get new Fellows from current COSS members.
For the record, COSS is not a legal entity, so as a member of its board I don't have any legal responsibilities of COSS' actions.

It's crucial that we have good connections with other players in Free Software. COSS certainly fits the bill.
