Quick summary of things the Finnish team did 2011-10-16 - 2012-04-26:
- 2011-11-30 Attended the Open Knowledge Foundation Network meeting in Finland: the Finnish OKFN guy had invited 50+ persons from the openness scene to network and discuss collaboration. I got many good contacts from there, but we havn't done anything concrete together
- 2011-12-06 Released PR "Helsinki city officials highly satisfied with Free Software" and did lots of related stuff before and after it
- 2012-01-16 Attended Open Data Tampere meetup with the FSFE hat on
- 2012-02-18 Attended Open Hack Day Tampere
- 2012-04-?? Met Jarkko Moilanen to discuss the 3D printing network thing, helped him get active within FSFE
- 2012-04-?? The Open Knowledge Foundation will have an Open Festival in Helsinki in autum 2012. While the track proposal window was open, I sent a proposal to have a track for Open Software.
- 2012-04-21 Released PR "Is vendor lock-in costing Helsinki 3.4 million Euros per year?" and related analysis. Compared to the December PR, we did even more work with preparing this PR and handling the reactions we got from it,
- 2012-04-20 Assembled on request an info package about OpenOffice deployments to Tuure Pitkänen, assistant of O-P Parviainen / Tampere
- 2012-04-26 Presenation about LibreOffice at Werkkoviestijät ry event (www.werkkoviestijat.net), I also promoted FSFE there. Public: senior citizens intrerested about computers/internet, mostly very novice users.
- As a representative of FSFE, I've attended COSS bi-monthly steering group meetings: 2011-10-26, 2011-12-15, 2012-02-15, 2012-04-17 - I've also attended one Finnsh Unix User Group board meeting, and I've pushed to unite the Finnish FOSS communities. One concrete example is that there will be a large Finnish delegation attending aKademy 2012 in Tallin. It will fill two purposes: Finns traveling together will learn to know each other and Finns visiting aKademy will have better international FOSS connections, including connections to our neighbours in Estonia.
- Timo Jyrinki has constantly made a lot of translations to FSFE.org
- Hanna Westerlund translated one PR into Finnish
- Some of us (at least me and Timo) also attended Fosdem, where at least I partially hang out with FSFE people (and helped a little bit at the booth, but very little)
- I've also helped a little bit the web team and worked with implementing the Funnel plan, partially with Cri and also alone coding stuff and committing it directly to the web-trunk.
The public procurement we're doing with Martin has been reported separately, so I won't repeat it here. Martin is also a member of the Finnish team and he has also been working with the PR's and other stuff we do as a country team.
We haven't hade any meetings or FSFE events. We might help organize a localisation event in June in Helsinki, if we can motivate Niklas Laxström to do the practical work, while FSFE would only sponsor the event location.
hmm.. it's hard to recall everything, I hope I didn't forget anything important. Even if we haven't had any events, it feels like we're been doing a lot of FSFE work even outside the procurement project.
