Hello,
Could FSFE consider covering travel expenses for me, if I was to go on a small "road trip" in Southern Finland, visiting several local Linux/Unix user groups and telling them about FSFE?
I'd estimate that the expense is around 50-100 euros per visited LUG. If I can manage to recruit at least one fully contributing fellow from each LUG, it would cover the expense.
So far the Finnish team has grown the Finnish fellow amount from 15 to 21 this winter, so there should already have been some extra income generated by us. It would be fair that the Finnish team would be allowed to channel some of it to local activities also.

I consider something like this acceptable, especially if you believe that will be cost neutral over a few month. But even then, we get the money in FSFE from donors to spread the word, so if we find people and opportunities to spread the word, we should IMO spend the money.
Of course Karsten should have the last say about this, and he needs to keep current cash flow and financial situation in mind while doing so. But I suggest to invest here.

Even if you did not convince more fellows to join in the past, we want local activities a lot! And your time will be much more valuable than the 50 Euros of travel costs. So thanks for the initiative!
Best, Bernhard

I think this is a very good initiative! Thank you for proposing it and being prepared to do it.
This is something we should support. Please check with Matthias, since he's the Fellowship coordinator and will have to approve the budget.
Please use the Fellowship infrastructure to announce the events to Fellows and publish event entries etc, in order go generate maximum impact.
Please also send a report about each meeting to team-reports@. Not only can we then keep track of what happens, but we'll also learn more about what works and what doesn't.
Would other country coordinators be interested in doing something similar?
Best regards, Karsten
hi Otto,
thank you very much for your initiative. This is something I definetely like to support with the Fellowship budget.

For the first half of the year I will definetely approve 200 EUR from the Fellowship budget for local activties for this. For the second half of the year this depends on our financial situation, but I will plan 200-300 EUR for the Finnish activites for the second half. If you plan for more please write me how much exactly you would need for that.
Best wishes, Matthias
