Hi,
MEP Eva Lichtenberger has contacted me about organising a small, 2-hour workshop on Saturday May 28. It will take place as part of a conference of Green party city councillors from all over Europe in Berlin, Germany.
The topic will be "Free Software in city administrations". I will be speaking on Free Software in the public sector. As a second speaker, we're looking for someone from a city administration somewhere in Europe (preferably not German, and ideally not Austrian or Swiss either) who has implemented Free Software in their administration, and can speak about experiences, best practices, obstacles and how to overcome them.
It's pretty short notice, I know. But it's a great opportunity to get a clear concept of Free Software into the heads of a large number of people in important positions.
I've contacted a few likely people, but have drawn blanks so far. It would be great if any of you could put me in touch with likely candidates. Travel and accomodation will be paid for by the Greens.
Would Tommi Karttaavi fit the bill? He's been recommended to me.
Best regards, Karsten

Yes, I guess so. I'll send him a mail.

Tommi would be good. His more concerned on IT-systems in general, not so much about basic it software (open office, email etc.). His facilitating a general architecture project by many municipalities.
You might also consider Martti Karjalainen or someone under him, from the Ministry of Justice. They have hands on experience with using open office in an otherwise Windows-environment.
I have no clue how these people feel about presenting in events of political parties.
Best, Martin
Best regards, Karsten

Martti sounds like a good fit. Could you perhaps introduce me?
