Veranstaltung “Digitale Souveränität und Modernisierung der öffentlichen
Verwaltung” ein.

In den letzten Jahren wurde verstärkt über den Einsatz Freier Software
in Verwaltungen diskutiert. Viele Verwaltungen haben mittlerweile
weitreichende, positive Erfahrungen mit dem Einsatz Freier Software
sammeln können. In einigen Bereichen sehen sie sich jedoch durch die
Abhängigkeiten von einzelnen Herstellern proprietärer Software immer
noch mit schwierigen Situationen konfrontiert: Modifikationen können nur
umständlich vorgenommen werden, die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen
Verwaltungen wird erschwert und Steuergelder werden für Lizenzen anstatt
für die Entwicklung von neuer Software verwendet.
In der Veranstaltung wollen wir zum einen erfolgreiche
Freie-Software-Projekte in der Verwaltung aus Anbietersicht vorstellen
(Vormittag) als auch die Sicht der Verwaltungen auf
Freie-Software-Projekte diskutieren (Nachmittag). Die Pausen sollen
genutzt werden, damit Interessierte im Rahmen einer Ausstellung ins
Gespräch kommen können.

Hallo,
der erste Freie-Software-Abend im neuen Jahr hat bereits stattgefunden.
Köln hat einen guten Start hingelegt.
Der nächste reguläre Freie-Software-Abend in Düsseldorf findet am
29.01.2020 ab 19:30 Uhr
wieder im Hause Rochusstr. 44, 40479 Düsseldorf, statt. Es ist der
erste reguläre Freie-Software-Abend in Düsseldorf in diesem Jahr.
Es geht los mit der "Neujahrsrunde". Thema dieses Abend sind, neben der
Pflege zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen, Rückblick und Ausblick.
Was ist im vergangenen Jahr gut, was nicht so gut gelaufen?
Wo stehen wir derzeit als Freie-Software-Aktivisten im Rheinland?
Was wollen wir im neuen Jahr unternehmen?
Da in diesem Jahr der Vorstand zu wählen ist, sollten wir auch darüber
diskutieren, wie die Mitgliederversammlung so "eingebettet" werden kann,
damit möglichst viele Menschen gerne daran teilnehmen.
Wer Einlass begehrt, sollte den Aushang an der Eingangstüre zum Gebäude
beachten.
Gäste sind auch bei diesem Treffen wie immer herzlich willkommen.
Nach dem Treffen werden wir die allgemeine Diskussion wohl in einer
Gaststätte fortsetzen.

der nächste reguläre Freie-Software-Abend in _Köln_ findet am ist am
ersten Montag im Februar, also am 03.02.2020 ab 19:30 Uhr im Chaos
Computer Club Cologne in der Heliosstr. 6a, 50825 Köln [0] statt.
Das Thema wird diesmal Sub-Turing Artificial Intelligence sein,
worüber Hardi Genaueres erzählen wird.
Interessierte Gäste sind auch dort wieder herzlich willkommen.

Hallo zusammen,
im Rahmen einer Linux-AG bin ich regelmäßig auf der Suche nach Lösungen, wie man den Schüler:innen
einen Zugang zu Linux bieten kann, für den Fall, dass nicht jede:r den eigenen Rechner mitbringt
und/oder im Rechnerraum standardmäßig nur abgeschottete Windows-Rechner vorhanden sind. Das heißt,
der Zugang sollte über einen Web-Browser erfolgen. Insbesondere ist mir wichtig, dass es nicht nur
ein Text-Terminal ist (wie z. B. shellinabox), sondern auch graphische Programme funktionieren.
Heute bin ich überraschend auf onworks.net gestoßen. Dort kann man eine große Auswahl an OS-Images
in einer virtuellen Maschine im Browser starten, z. B. auch openSUSE for Education:

Damit kann man sofort und ohne Anmeldung loslegen. Die Performance ist überraschend gut. Der
Mauscurser laggt zwar ein bisschen, aber man kann sogar Videos inkl. Ton abspielen. Per
root-Passwort kann man fehlende Programme schnell nachinstallieren.
Nachteile:
- Finanzierung nur über Werbung
- nach 10 Minuten Inaktivität wird die Session beendet
- Save/Restore Session nur mit Google-Account
- Keine Garantien oder Kontrollmöglichkeit über die eigenen Daten oder Verfügbarkeit des Dienstes
Ich würde gerne ein ähnliches Setup verwenden, bei dem ich aber mehr Kontrolle habe (entweder auf
einem selbst-gehosteten Server im Internet oder auf einem Server im lokalen Netzwerk, um auch ohne
Internet arbeiten zu können). Wer hat möglicherweise schon Erfahrung damit?
