Der Förderverein Dienstleistungszentrum Energieeffizienz und Klimaschutz
e.V. (dlze in der Berswordt-Halle) lädt zu einer
Informationsveranstaltung und zu einem kostenfreien Workshop für
Bürger*innen ein.
In Privathäusern, Firmen und Institutionen häufen sich Mediengeräte
(PCs, Laptops, …), die scheinbar zu langsam oder sogar vermeintlich
defekt sind. Computerhardware wird häufig aufgrund steigender
Hardwareanforderungen von Software oder der fehlenden
Treiber-Unterstützung von alter Hardware durch Betriebssysteme entsorgt.
Gleichzeitig besteht durch die Notwendigkeit von Sicherheits- und
Kompatibilitätsupdates ein Handlungsdruck, die Systeme mit aktueller
bzw. gepflegter Software zu betreiben. Eine verbreitete und ökologisch
schwerwiegende Folge hiervon: Massen von Computern und Notebooks landen
im Müll und werden zu Elektroschrott.
Erst No-Tech, dann Old-Tech und dann erst Hightechlösungen, so lautet
die suffiziente Daumenregel. Denn rohstoff- und energieintensive
digitale Lösungen erschaffen oft neue Probleme an anderer Stelle. Welche
Wege gäbe es zu digitaler Nachhaltigkeit? Ein Weg ist Hardwareupcycling!
Die Wiederverwendbarkeit von alter Hardware wird mit Freier Software
erheblich verbessert, die Nutzungsdauer verlängert. Ein Freies
Betriebssystem (z.B. Linux) bietet die Möglichkeit bis zu 20 Jahre alte
Mediengeräte im Alltag oder in ganz verschiedenen Arbeitsumgebungen
einzusetzen. Mediengeräte in Kombination mit Freier Software zu nutzen
ist ein einfacher Einstieg für alle, die auch digital am
gesellschaftlichen Wandel arbeiten. Gemeinsam mit dem Medienkünstler
Daniel Schlep als Referenten (http://www.danielschlep.de

Veranstaltungen angeboten:

In dieser Veranstaltung werden grundlegende Informationen zum Thema
Nachhaltigkeit durch Medienkompetenz – mehr Freie Software, weniger
Elektroschrott erläutert und ausgetauscht. Auch kann dieser Abend dazu
dienen, andere Menschen kennenzulernen, die ebenfalls Interesse an
Freier Software haben oder auch schon Nutzer*innen von Freier Software
sind.

Dieser Workshop bietet die Möglichkeit, mit Freier Software (Linux)
aktiv in Berührung zu kommen. Die notwendigen Schritte für das kreative
Upcycling von alten Mediengeräten werden hierbei erläutert. Systeme und
Programme können getestet und weiterführende Möglichkeiten in
verschiedenen Anwendungsbereichen (Büro, Grafik, Video, Musik,
Spieleentwicklung, etc.) erlebt werden.
