Hallo,
ich kann zwar leider auch keine Problemlösungstipps geben, aber zumindest ähnliche Beobachtungen wie Erik Albers berichten.
Und zwar gibt es bei uns an der Uni zum einen das "eduroam", welches auf einem Radius-Server basiert, und noch ein "web-psk", bei dem man sich immer nach Verbindungsaufnahme auf einer Webseite anmelden muss. Dazu habe ich ein Thinkpad x220 mit proprietärem Realtek-WLAN-Chip und openSUSE Leap, Debian testing sowie Kubuntu 15.04 und 15.10 drauf (alle mit KDE Plasma 5 und NetworkManager-Plasmoid).
eduroam funktioniert nur bei Kubuntu (sprich Ubuntu) relativ zuverlässig, bei openSUSE habe ich es seltsamerweise nur ein paar Mal geschafft, mich damit zu verbinden und ansonsten ist es jetzt wie bei Debian testing, welches noch nie mit diesem eduroam zusammenarbeiten wollte. Im NetworkManager- Applet sieht man dann i. d. R. zunächst nur eine ganze Zeit lang, dass die Schnittstelle eingerichtet wird und manchmal sogar versucht wird, eine Netzwerkadresse zu beziehen, dann aber der Vorgang abgebrochen und ggf. eine Verbindung mit dem anderen Netzwerk web-psk versucht wird. Das eduroam scheint übrigens auch bei einem Professor mit seinem Macbook (mit OS X) öfters mal nicht zu funktionieren.
Des Weiteren habe ich ein Samsung Galaxy S5 mit Cyanogenmod 12.1, welches sich bislang, wenn auch immer mit etwas Wartezeit, ziemlich zuverlässig mit eduroam verbunden hatte. Ein Kommilitone hat ein Nexus 5, bislang ebenfalls mit Cyanogenmod 12.1, welches zwar mit CM 11 noch mit eduroam funktionierte, seit CM 12 jedoch nicht mehr.
Die Alternative, das web-psk, funktioniert dann allerdings meistens, auch wenn es ein wenig fummelig ist, bis man sich mal in dem nicht immer automatisch erscheinenden Web-Eingabefeld angemeldet hat.
