Hallo,
bekanntlich ist die Lage Freier Software bei sogenannten "Fachanwendungen" teilweise etwas prekär. Das Projekt Freie Software für Betrieb und Verwaltung will dazu beitragen, diese Lage zu verbessern.
Manchmal gibt es Freie Fachanwendungen. Doch da sie oft nicht in Distributionen enthalten sind, ist ihr Bekanntheitsgrad zu gering.
Dem abzuhelfen und um die Installation für den Anwender zu vereinfachen, dient es, diese Anwendungen für Distributionen zu paketieren.
Vor geraumer Zeit haben wir beschlossen, dies mit JVerein zu versuchen, das wir auch selbst nutzen. Dieses Programm dient der Unterstützung der Verwaltung deutscher Vereine.
Maßgeblich war dabei auch, dass Deutschland bekanntlich über eine ausgeprägte Vereinskultur verfügt, sodass diese Software potentiell eine erhebliche praktische Bedeutung hat.
Allerdings ist JVerein in Java geschrieben, was es nach Distributionsregeln erforderlich machte, zunächst alle Abhängigkeiten, die nicht bereits in der Distribution enthalten waren, zu paketieren. Und die Abhängigkeiten der Abhängigkeiten und und und ...
Das hat leider lange gedauert.
Aber ab heute ist es möglich, eine Freie Vereinsverwaltungssoftware aus dem Debian-Repositorium zu nutzen (zumindest zum Testen).
JVerein ist nun als Plugin neben Hibiscus für Jameica im Debian Repositorium verfügbar.
Das Paket steht bereits unter http://people.debian.org/~mechtilde/JVerein zur Installation zur Verfügung:
Der entsprechende Eintrag in der Datei /etc/apt/sources.list lautet:
deb [trusted=yes] http://people.debian.org/~mechtilde/JVerein ./
Andernfalls muss man warten, bis die Ftp-Master des Debian-Projektes das Paket (zunächst) für experimental freigegeben haben.
Bitte testet es und gebt Mechtilde Feedback.
Hoffentlich kommt es dann in das nächste Release (bullseye).

super Aktion! Vielen Dank. Ich schaue mir das gerne einmal an, bin allerdings ein schlechter Tester, weil ich das Programm so gar nicht kenne.
Ich wünschte es gäbe mehr solcher Aktionen. :-)

das Programm nicht zu kennen, macht einen zu einem guten Tester, da man dann "über jedes Steinchen stolpert".
Wer das Programm zu gut kennt, macht alles richtig und probiert nur Bekanntes aus, was den Sinn des Testens verfehlen kann.

die Webseite dazu ist wohl https://www.jverein.de/ . (Mein Tipp, schreibt da zdrauf, was Eure Software für potentielle Nutzende Leisten kann, also welchen Teil der "Vereinsverwaltung".)

Mechtilde ist nur die Debian-Maintainerin für JVerein, aber nicht "upstream".
Die Originaldatei (README.md) müsste daher "gepatcht" werden. Daher kann der Request leider so nicht übernommen werden. (Daneben gibt es wohl auch noch ein UTF-8-Problem.)

P.S.: "upstream" hat noch Pull-Requests von Jan. 2018 in der Queue, aber das Programm ist halt gut und "konkurrenzlos".

Das ist klasse! Wenn Software nicht in Distrubutionen landet, ist das in der Tat etwas, was die Software langfristig zurückhält und Nutzer dazu verleitet, nach unfreien Lösungen ausschau zu halten. Deswegen vielen Dank an dich für die Mail und an Mechtilde fürs Paketieren!
