Auch brauchen wir uns wegen der Höhe dieser Mittel doch nicht zu sorgen, denn Google ist ja Sponsor der FSFE und nicht deren (politischer) Gegner.
Oder meinst Du Google sollte die FSFE noch ein wenig höher dotieren?

darf ich vorsichtig darauf hinweisen, dass die versuchte Einflussnahme in den politischen Prozess und auf Politiker seitens verschiedener NGOs wie Greenpeace, aber auch der FSFE, ebenfalls Lobbyarbeit ist?
Ist das, was dich eigentlich stört nicht viel eher die durchkommerzialisierte Lobbyarbeit großer Unternehmen für ihre Unternehmensziele?

Moin, du setzt unsere Art der Interessensvertretung (NGO`s) damit gleich? Es gibt genug Beispiele dafür das wir eben nicht auf gleicher Höhe agieren. Gruß

Nein. Ich setzte sie ganz sicher nicht gleich. Ich wollte bloß anmerken, dass Einflussnahme auf Politiker im Allgemeinen Lobbyismus genannt wird und dass einige von uns recht aktiv damit beschäftigt sind.
Dass das, was finanziell gut ausgestattete Unternehmen tun, nicht gleich ist, sollte klar sein. Einflussnahme auf Politiker/die Politik ist für jedes Individuum erstrebenswert. Das, was du anprangern willst ist - denke ich - ein anderer Aspekt (Die Unverhältnismäßigkeit der Einflussnahme großer Unternehemn im Vergleich zu der vieler einzelner Individuen.)
(Im Endeffekt betreibe ich begriffliche Haarspalterei. Aber ich denke hin und wieder ist es wichtig sich Begrifflichkeiten bewusst zu machen. Nichts weiter. :)

Ich stimme allerdings zu, dass es zahlreiche Probleme beim Lobbyismus gibt, die man verbessern muss: Fehlende Transparenz; unfaire Vorteile, die reiche Unternehmen gegenüber NGOs haben; ungleiche Finanzierung von Interessen und so weiter. Jedoch NGOs zu kritisieren, weil sie ihrerseits politische Arbeit betreiben und das Ungleichgewicht versuchen auszugleichen, finde ich falsch.

Das soll keine Belehrung sein, sondern ein Austausch von Argumenten.
Zwischen unseren Positionen wird deutlich, was auch in der Forschung zu Lobbyismus ein großes Problem ist: Der Begriff ist total schwammig, und es wird durch verwandte Phänomene wie "Public Affairs", "politische Kommunikation" oder "Politikberatung" definitiv nicht einfacher.
Ist Interessenvertretung das "Gute" und Lobbyismus das "Böse"? Ich denke nicht, und ich glaube auch nicht, dass wir hier eine eindeutige Definition finden, mit der wir schlechten Lobbyismus (etwa Waffen- und Ölindustrie) von gutem (etwa Greenpeace, Oxfam, FSFE) unterscheiden können. Ob ein Interesse nun gut oder gemeinnützig oder unterstützenswert ist, liegt wahrscheinlich ausschließlich im Auge des Betrachters.
In meinem letzten Absatz, den Du erwähnst, habe ich auf einige Unterschiede der verschiedenen Akteure, v.a. Industrie vs. gemeinnützige NGOs hingewiesen. Erstere haben oft mehr Geld und Personal, letztere haben oft die Öffentlichkeit auf ihrer Seite, sind für viele Menschen glaubwürdiger, und haben daher andere Wege, um die ungleichen Geldmittel auszugleichen. Für die FSFE etwa ist es ein großer Vorteil, dass Freiwillige in ganz Europa (vielleicht manchmal sogar unbewusst) Lobbyarbeit betreiben, etwa unsere Münchner, die in der LiMux-Affäre ganz maßgeblich für die Interessen Freier Software gearbeitet haben.
tl;dr: Lobbyismus ist mehr als Schwaz und Weiß IMHO.

Natürlich ist es geschickt von diesen, wenn Menschen oder Organisationen mit viel Geld (oder Macht) über NGOs ihre Interessen vertreten lassen. Die Grenzen verschwimmen jedoch auch schnell. Ist vielleicht das ganze Konzept "unserer Demokratie" schon kaputt? Man wählt irgendwelche Chefs und die entscheiden dann _alles_ für einen. Ich weiß, allein die Vorstellung, unsere bürgerliche Demokratie sei nicht der Stein der Weisen, bereitet vielen Alpträume. Vor allem, weil man sich keine Alternativen vorstellen kann. Oder zumindest keine besseren. Die einzige öffentlich wahrnehmbare Demokratiekritik kommt ja auch leider aus eher seltsamen Kreisen wie AFD & Co.
Aber wenn ich solche Emails lese, kann ich nicht anders, als mal wieder darauf rumreiten, auch wenn es vielleicht (fast) keinen interessiert: Eine andere Welt ist möglich. Selbst wenn man nicht dran glaubt: Es erleichtert die eigene Reflexion auch solcher Themen wie Lobbyismus, wenn man einfach den Gedanken mal zulässt.
Und im Unicode gibt's sogar schwarze Flaggen: 🏴 ¡Viva la anarquía! Oder wem das Wort Anarchie zu sehr negativ konnotiert ist, der mag sich vielleicht mit dem libertären Konföderalismus beschäftigen, der als Ideenlehre aus dem Anarchismus stammt, sich selbst aber nicht dem Anarchismus zuordnet. Aber auch der Anarchismus hat heutzutage ein unangebracht schlechtes Image.

Was soll denn daran unfair sein? Oder nein, anders ausgedrückt: Was hat denn das mit Fairness zu tun? Das ist doch kein Fußballspiel, das wir gewinnen wollen. Ein bisschen mehr Pragmatismus halte ich da für sinnvoll.
Copyleft ist auch ein fieser Trick um das noch fieser Konstrukt Copyright auszuhebeln.
Oder würden wir, wenn wir als Freie-Software-Lobby alle Karten in der Hand hätten, auch sagen "Ach ne, das ist ja unfair, wenn wir so viel mehr Einfluss haben als die Proprietäre-Software-Lobby. Halten wir uns mit unserem Lobbyismus mal ein bisschen zurück, damit es fair ist."? ;)

Ich finde schon, dass Google unser politischer Gegner ist, jedenfalls ein Gegner freier Software. Die Suchmaschine von Google ist eine Sammlung von unfreien Algorithmen und unfreien Daten, und bei den anderen Google-Services ist das nicht anders. Ich hab den Eindruck, dass Google Open Source nur da nutzt, wo es sich vom Einsatz proprietärer Software keinen Wettbewerbsvorteil verspricht (Beispiel: Android AOSP vs Google Apps).
In einem Unternehmen, wo ich arbeitete, wurden Videokameras in einigen Arbeitsräumen installiert, um den Anforderungen von Google zur Geheimhaltung eines Android-Prototyps zu genügen. Das ist sehr weit davon entfernt, wie ich mit Software arbeiten möchte.
Oder meinst Du Google sollte die FSFE noch ein wenig höher dotieren?
Ich meine, um glaubwürdig für freie Software einzutreten, sollten wir nicht am Tropf von Google hängen.

Ich vermute mal, dass Du hier eine Dosis Ironie beigemischt hast. Als langjähriger Unterstützer und Koordinator bei der FSFE und Teilnehmer der kürzlichen Diskussion über Google weißt Du nämlich sicherlich, dass Google überall da, wo die Firma Freiheiten - insbesondere digitale - einschränken möchte, der politische Gegenspieler der FSFE ist.
Dass Google die FSFE dennoch finanziell unterstützt, liegt vermutlich daran, dass andere Bereiche unserer Arbeit _unter anderem_ für diese Firma, aber auch zahlreiche andere Softwareentwicklerinnen und -nutzer, vorteilhaft sind. Darunter fällt etwa unsere REUSE-Initiative, mit der wir die Lizenzierung von Freier Software so einfach und einheitlich wie möglich machen: https://reuse.software/
