Ich bin mir nicht sicher ob ich die Frage ganz verstehe. Das Thema Routerzwang ist nicht nur bei DSL, sondern auch bei Kabel.
Als wir https://blogs.fsfe.org/mk/?p=1124 vorbereitet hatten, bekamen wir viele Beispiele von Kabelanbietern,
Sicher, das Problem ist aber technisch unterschiedlich, je nachdem, ob der Kunde wirklich eine eigene Leitung bekommt (mit der er anstellen kann, was er will), oder ob auf derselben Leitung andere Kunden sind, dessen Datenverkehr er nicht lesen können soll und schon gar nicht beeinträchtigen.
Natürlich existiert im zweiten Fall die Schwachstelle auch dann, wenn der Kunde kein anderes Modem anschließen darf, aber es ist immer noch ein Unterschied, ob man per Regulierung einen Markt für Modems schafft auf die der Kunde i.d.R. weitreichenderen Zugriff hat.

Hallo Mir ist da gerade eine Frage zu diesem Thema gekommen. Habe ich das richtig verstanden, dass die Provider argumentieren, dass Ihr Einflußbereich nicht an der Dose sondern erst am Router endet ? Ist das nicht genau jene Argumentation, die die Fernmelde-Post noch vor der Telekom immer anbrachte um zu verhindern, dass die Leute eigene Telefone anschließen dürfen. Und war der Wegfall dieser Gerätezulassung nicht eben jene Bahnbrechende Leistung, die die ganze Entwicklung im Telekommunikationsbereich erst möglich gemacht hat ?
Irgendwie habe ich gerade das Gefühl wir fallen da in die 80 Jahre zurück und wenn das wirklich durchkommt: Wer sagt dann dass nicht auch die Telefongerätefreiheit wieder kassiert wird ?
Oder bin ich gerade voll auf dem Holzweg ?

Im Prinzip hast Du ja recht.
Aber sieh auch 'mal den Fortschritt: Du darfst an den Router Kabel, Computer und sonstige Geräte anschließen, auch wenn sie kein Posthörnchen tragen. Und du darfst sie sogar selber anschließen und musst sie nicht durch einen postlizenzierten Fachbetrieb anschließen lassen.
Ist das nicht ein Fortschritt? ;-)

Telefone konnten damals noch nicht als Botnets agieren und private Briefe wurden auch nicht durch Wahltasten geschliffen. Aber mit vollwertigen Computern an MBit-Anschlüssen, worüber die sensibelsten Daten gesendet werden, kommt gleich eine ganz neue Komponente hinzu...

Hallo Das meinte ich ja. Ich finde diesen Routerzwang ja auch ganz furchtbar. Ich habe mich anscheinend unklar ausgedrückt. Aber wenn ich den Artikel von Heise lese, dann hat das auch schon der CCC so gesagt, dass ein Routerzwang ein furchtbarer Rückschritt wäre. Ich glaube auch, die Freiheit, dass man das alles tun darf hat erst zu den jetzigen Freiheiten beigetragen.
Aber es scheint wirklich so zu sein, dass sich das Thema erledigt hat.

Das hoffe ich auch. Aber: Wie das Beispiel der Softwarepatente oder manche Migrationen zu Freier Software (AA, Freiburg etc.) zeigen, gibt es da üble "Wiedergänger" [1]. Wir müssen daher leider auf der Hut und derzeit noch am Ball bleiben.
