CodePen sieht mir nach Freemium und proprietär

aus; außerdem finde ich so schnell keine Möglichkeit, offline damit zu arbeiten.
In der Schule und mit meinen eigenen Kindern habe ich bisher erfolgreich Scratch
eingesetzt. Das ist frei, Open Source und kann offline verwendet werden. In debianischen Systemen (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint etc.) installiert man einfach
apt install scratch
das Standard-Paket.
Wenn die Kinder dann anfangen möchten, mit "echtem" Code zu arbeiten, führe ich sie direkt an Python3 / Idle3
apt install idle3
heran. Python3 ist eine professionelle, in der Industrie verwendete, Sprache mit kurzem Feedback-Loop, weil interpretiert.
Mit der Idle3- oder Python3-Shell haben die Kinder sogar die Möglichkeit, ihr grafisches Programm zu verändern, während es bereits läuft. (Das ist bei Scratch übrigens auch so.)

Lt. packages.debian.org ist das Version 1.4.0...
Ein aktuelles Scratch habe ich mir unter openSUSE von Flathub gezogen: https://flathub.org/apps/details/edu.mit.Scratch
Scratch ist super, die Kinder mögen es sehr gerne.
