da ich morgen wieder eine lange Zugfahrt vor mir habe und nicht auf Internet verzichten möchte, dachte ich mir gerade dass mir vielleicht einer von euch weiterhelfen kann.
Im ICE gibt es das Angebot für 5€ WiFi zu bekommen. Leider schaffe ich es aber nicht mich anständig mit dem WiFi zu verbinden. Das heißt, ich bekomme das Wifi zwar angezeigt aber ich bekomme keine Verbindung zustande. Ob das DHCP mir keine Adresse zuweist oder ob es an meinem Rechner liegt, keine Ahnung. Jedenfalls hatte ich früher ein Ubuntu drauf, da ging es ohne Probleme. Nun habe ich ein Debian 8 (jessie) 64-bit und es funktioniert eben nicht mehr. Der Rechner ist ein Lenovo x220i.
hat vielleicht irgendjemand ähnliche Erfahrung und vor allem eine Lösung oder wenigstens eine Ahnung woran es liegen könnte?

nirgendwo anders. funktioniert immer einwandfrei. nur bei der DB noch nie in einer bei einer Fallzahl von 3 Fahrten bisher.

Merkwürdig. Ich habe nämlich Debian Jessie 64bit, allerdings auf einem ASUS, alles schon etwas länger und bei mir klappt es problemlos mit Bordmitteln, also wie bei jedem anderem WLAN auch. Und wenn Du auf demselben Rechner früher Ubuntu hattest, kann es ja nicht an der HW liegen. Unter Debian hatte ich früher auch WLAN-Probleme bei manchen Netzen, aber wie gesagt: bei der DB klappt es bei mir. Und ich habe zusätzlich zu den Bordmitteln zwar den network-manager installiert, aber nicht aktiviert. Tut mir Leid, hab' keine weitere Idee :-(

Hallo,
ich kann zwar leider auch keine Problemlösungstipps geben, aber zumindest ähnliche Beobachtungen wie Erik Albers berichten.
Und zwar gibt es bei uns an der Uni zum einen das "eduroam", welches auf einem Radius-Server basiert, und noch ein "web-psk", bei dem man sich immer nach Verbindungsaufnahme auf einer Webseite anmelden muss. Dazu habe ich ein Thinkpad x220 mit proprietärem Realtek-WLAN-Chip und openSUSE Leap, Debian testing sowie Kubuntu 15.04 und 15.10 drauf (alle mit KDE Plasma 5 und NetworkManager-Plasmoid).
eduroam funktioniert nur bei Kubuntu (sprich Ubuntu) relativ zuverlässig, bei openSUSE habe ich es seltsamerweise nur ein paar Mal geschafft, mich damit zu verbinden und ansonsten ist es jetzt wie bei Debian testing, welches noch nie mit diesem eduroam zusammenarbeiten wollte. Im NetworkManager- Applet sieht man dann i. d. R. zunächst nur eine ganze Zeit lang, dass die Schnittstelle eingerichtet wird und manchmal sogar versucht wird, eine Netzwerkadresse zu beziehen, dann aber der Vorgang abgebrochen und ggf. eine Verbindung mit dem anderen Netzwerk web-psk versucht wird. Das eduroam scheint übrigens auch bei einem Professor mit seinem Macbook (mit OS X) öfters mal nicht zu funktionieren.
Des Weiteren habe ich ein Samsung Galaxy S5 mit Cyanogenmod 12.1, welches sich bislang, wenn auch immer mit etwas Wartezeit, ziemlich zuverlässig mit eduroam verbunden hatte. Ein Kommilitone hat ein Nexus 5, bislang ebenfalls mit Cyanogenmod 12.1, welches zwar mit CM 11 noch mit eduroam funktionierte, seit CM 12 jedoch nicht mehr.
Die Alternative, das web-psk, funktioniert dann allerdings meistens, auch wenn es ein wenig fummelig ist, bis man sich mal in dem nicht immer automatisch erscheinenden Web-Eingabefeld angemeldet hat.

Oh, das ist merkwürdig. Ich nutze Debian 64bit unstable in Kombination mit dem network-manager(-gnome) und hatte diesbezüglich keine Probleme. Habe zwar noch nie den Service gekauft, aber auf das Portal kam ich bei 1/1 Versuchen zumindest.
Hast Du die Möglichkeit, vielleicht die Verbindung zu löschen? Manchmal ist es ja so, dass man versehentlich die Verbindung bearbeitet hat (also etwa eine fixe IP ausgesucht hat) und deswegen zukünftige Verbindungsversuche nicht mehr klappen.
Oder Du fragst einfach einen Schaffner, ob er Dir IT-Support leisten kann ;) *scnr*

das hört sich so an, als hätte ich so ein Problem auch schon mal gehabt.
Versuch mal mit Lynx auf die Webseite zu gehen. Du nutzt jetzt den Iceweasel im Gegensatz zum Firefox bei Ubuntu.
Nach dem Login kannst Du auch mit dem Iceweasel weiter browsen.
Teile mal mit, ob meine Glaskugel funktioniert.

Auf meinem X220 / Debian Jessie / NetworkManager komme ich ins WLAN der DB-ICEs, wenn es denn funktioniert.
Auf einigen Strecken (z.B. ICE im Ausland, aber auch in Deutschland) ist das aus User-Sicht einfach broken - eine Essid wird angezeigt, eine IP-Adresse bekommt man aber nicht.

Hey, ich würde mal das journal vom systemd befragen (oder nutzt Debian noch syslog?), wenn du den Zeitraum noch kennst und das noch nicht zu lange her war. Beispiel:
journalctl --since "2015-01-10 03:00" --until "2015-01-11 03:00" -u NetworkManager.service journalctl --since "2015-01-10 03:00" --until "2015-01-11 03:00" -u wpa_supplicant.service
Das sollte einem schon mal sagen, welcher Teil nicht funktioniert hat und im optimalen Fall auch warum.
