Heute veröffentlichte die Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) die Ergebnisse ihrer Parteienumfrage zu Freier Software für die Landtagswahlen in Baden-Württemberg und Rheinland-Pfalz. Die Parteien konnten Stellung nehmen zu Fragen über die generelle Förderung von Freier Software, dem Problem der Herstellerabhängigkeit bei unfreier Software, Offenen Standards, dem Einsatz von Freier Software in der Bildung, Werbung für unfreie Software auf Webseiten der öffentlichen Verwaltung sowie zu Softwarepatenten.
Die FSFE wird die Fragen auch an die Parteien der kommenden Landtagswahlen in Bremen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen und Berlin richten.

Ich habe gerade die Antworten auf unsere Wahlprüfsteine zu Freier Software veröffentlicht: http://fsfe.org/news/2011/news-20110325-01.de.html (Ja, das Zitat aus dem Betreff kommt dort so vor.). Unten nochmal der Text unserer Pressemitteilung für euch.
Was ich in der Antwort der SPD in RLP recht interessant fand:
Bereits heute kommt daneben auch in dafür geeigneten Bereichen der Landesverwaltung (z. B. in der Vermessungs- und Katasterverwaltung) ausschließlich Open-Source-Software zum Einsatz. Auch im LDI, dem zentralen Rechenzentrum der Landesverwaltung, überwiegt die Anzahl der Server, die z. B. unter Linux betrieben werden.
Weiß da jemand von euch mehr dazu? Sonst werde ich mal noch nachfragen wie das bei der Vermessungs- und Katasterverwaltung ist.
Außerdem fand ich die Antwort der FDP in RLP zu Softwarepatenten interessant:
Im Softwarebereich halten wir das Urheberrecht für ausreichend. Dafür werden wir uns auch künftig einsetzen.

Freie GIS Software ist ja schon lange sehr stark [1]. So setzt auch das LVermGeo in Bereichen wie Datenbanken oder Kartendienste Freie Software ein. Wir haben gerade ein Projekt zum UMN Mapserver [2] abgeschlossen, aber auch andere Unternehmen sind mit ihren Diensleistungen dabei.
gerade GDAL [1], eine Bibliothek für im GIS häufig verwendete Mathematik und Datenformate, scheint schon eine Art Standard geworden zu sein. Und nur um mal ein eigenes kleines Projekt zum Thema zu erwähnen: Vor zwei Jahren habe ich mit noch jemand anderem eine mobile GIS-Anwendung geschrieben: GravurGIS [2]. Damals ging es nur um Windows Mobile (jaja ich weiß ;-) ) und die Anwendung ist hauptsächlich in C# geschrieben. Sie unterstützt auch den UMN MapServer, baut auf GDAL auf und kann somit viele Formate lesen und auch schnell größere Karten anzeigen, Layer darstellen, GPS, Zeichnen, ...
So, genug Werbung :-) und mittlerweile habe ich auch lang nix mehr dran gemacht. Aber manchmal passt's ja, dass jemand nach sowas sucht...

Neben MapServer sollte man auf jeden Fall noch das PostGIS-Projekt [1] hervorheben, das die PostgreSQL-Datenbank um eine außerordentlich vollständige GIS-Implementation erleichtert. Sowas erhält man bei den proprietären Datenbanken nur gegen sehr hohe Lizenzkosten.
Ein weiteres Vorzeigeprojekt ist OpenLayers [2] ein Vorzeigeprojekt, das ermöglicht interaktive Karten im Browser (via JavaScript). OpenLayers wird unter anderem bei OpenStreetMap eingesetzt, d.h. viele dürften das bereits benutzen, ohne sich dessen bewusst zu sein.
Ich arbeite bereits in mehreren Projekten mit MapServer, PostGIS, OpenLayers & Co, und möchte mir nicht ausmalen, wie diese Branche anssehen würde, wenn es dafür eine gute Freie Software gäbe ...

Ich finde es vor allem interessant, dass die Positionen der einzelnen Landesgruppen in den Parteien sich teils merklich unterscheiden. Während sich die Linke zum Beispiel in Sachsen-Anhalt grundsätzlich positiv geäußert, aber konkrete Maßnahmen abgelehnt hatte, gab sie in Baden-Württemberg (als einzige Partei) eine Reihe konkreter Zusagen. Könnte man natürlich damit abtun, dass sie eh keine realistische Aussicht auf einen Einzug in den Landtag hatten, und somit ihre Zusagen nicht umzusetzen brauchen... ;-) Allerdings scheinen die Antworten auch sachlich sehr gut informiert -- offenbar gibt es dort Jemanden, der das Thema wirklich ernst nimmt.
Etwas schockierend fand ich dagegen die Antworten der Grünen in Baden-Württemberg: Während sie sich in den anderen Ländern sehr positiv (wenn auch wenig konkret) geäußert hatten, kommen hier teilweise kritische Aussagen, die an neoliberale Positionen grenzen. Es scheint fast, dass der erste grüne Landesvorsitzende nur möglich wurde, weil die Grünen dort einen starken Gelbstich zeigen...
