Hallo,
ich werde nächsten Monat einen Vortrag halten bei dem es darum geht wie man mit Freier Software nachhaltig Entwicklungshilfe leisten kann[1]. Das ist die komplette Beschreibung des Vortrags:
"Software ist heute aus dem Alltag nicht mehr weg zu denken. Laut einer Studie interagieren wir im Schnitt mehr als 300 mal am Tag mit Software. Damit nimmt Software eine Schlüsselrolle in unserem Leben ein. Sie entscheidet über unsere Möglichkeiten am kulturellen Leben teilzunehmen, über unsere Bildung und unsere Möglichkeiten am Arbeitsmarkt. Proprietäre Software, also Software welche als eine Art Black-Box ausgeliefert wird, macht es unmöglich diese zu verstehen und eigene Lösungen darauf aufzubauen. Niemand außer dem Hersteller, welcher in der Regel aus einem reichen westlichen Land kommt, ist in der Lage Fehler zu beheben oder die Software an lokale Gegebenheiten anzupassen. Mit dem Export dieser Software in wirtschaftlich schwächere Länder laufen wir Gefahr neue, diesmal digitale, Kolonien zu errichten indem wir den Menschen zwar auf den ersten Blick nützliche Werkzeuge in die Hand geben, sie aber gleichzeitig abhängig von wenigen großen Unternehmen machen. Damit nehmen wir den Menschen jegliche Möglichkeit diese neue Kulturtechnik zu verstehen und für sich zu nutzen. Freie Software, also Software die jeder verwenden, studieren, anpassen und weitergeben kann, bietet hier einen Ausweg. Mit Freier Software exportieren wir nicht nur Werkzeuge sondern Wissen, was die Basis für gute Bildung, Unabhängigkeit und nicht zuletzt für eine starke lokale Wirtschaft bildet."
OLPC (One Laptop per Child) war hierfür früher ein gutes Beispiel, ich muss mich noch informieren in wie weit das heute noch eine Rolle spielt.
Kennt ihr andere gute Beispiele die ich unbedingt in meinen Vortrag aufnehmen sollte? Wenn ihr keine Beispiele direkt aus der Entwicklungshilfe habt nehme ich auch Vorzeigeprojekte aus Industrieländern welche man gut "Exportieren" könnte.

linux4afrika habe ich mir vor einiger Zeit mal abgespeichert, ohne mir das jedoch genauer anzuschauen:
Toll finde ich persönlich Labdoo. Ist zwar originär kein Software-Lieferant, allerdings sind alle gespendeten Laptops default mit einer GNU/Linux-Distri ausgestattet (Edubuntu AFAIR).

ich finde dazu leider gerade keine Quelle mehr. Ich habe es vor vielen Jahren in einem Vortrag (von Georg Greve) gehört. Sollte ich die Quelle wieder finden werde ich sie hier posten.

Ich stolpere über diese Aussage weil mir die Definition fehlt. Was heißt denn "ein mal mit Software interagieren" (bzw 300 mal)? Wenn ich 2h am Computer sitze und 10 Mails beantwortet habe, wie oft habe ich dann wohl mit Software interagiert? : )

OLPC ist tatsächlich nicht mehr aktuell. Den Ansatz halte ich in diesem Kontext auch für überholt. Statt dessen würde ich lieber Beispiele bringen, wie Menschen in Entwicklungsländern Freie Software nutzen, um tolle Sachen zu machen.
Ich denke da z.B. an Maker Spaces in Kenia, Bildungsprojekte in Indien, etc. Also gerade kein "Beglücken" durch den reichen Westen, sondern Dinge, die Menschen vor Ort tun können, weil Freie Software ihnen mehr Möglichkeiten gibt.
