ich habe die Spezifikation (PDF-Dokument) mal überflogen:

Die Spezifikation macht auf mich einen durch und durch guten Eindruck. Solche Specs würde ich mir noch an ganz anderen Stellen wünschen.
Sies ist sehr gut verständlich formuliert, mit vielen Beispielen und Anwendungsfällen. Sie basiert auf offenen Standards wie HTTP und JSON, die in Freien Software-Bibliotheken bereits zahlreich umgesetzt sind. Auch die Hintergründe für jede Empfehlung sind so gründlich erklärt, dass auch weniger gut ausgebildete Programmierer die Spezifikation ohne grobe Fehler umsetzen können müssten.
Das ganze ist ein sehr moderner, leichtgewichtiger Ansatz. Das wird sich meines Erachtens nach positiv auf die Langlebigkeit, Performance und auch die Sicherheit dieser Dienste auswirken.
Die einzige Stelle, die man vielleicht kritisieren könnte: Es wird auf JSON-LD aufgebaut, was ein relativ neuer Sub-Standard von JSON ist, der noch nicht so gut "abgehangen" wie der Rest ist. Sowas ist immer ein gewisses Risiko. Aber das ist Jammern auf sehr hohem Niveau. Denn die einzige brauchbare Alternative wäre, XML statt JSON zu verwenden. Doch das dürfte dem ganzen einen Haufen Komplexität hinzufügen, die man eigentlich nicht haben will.
Mein Eindruck ist, dass hier definitiv kein Industrie-Konsortium am Werk war, sondern Leute, die es nicht zu kompliziert machen wollen, denen es ernsthaft um die Sache geht, und die genau wissen, wovon sie reden.
