Auf der Internetseite der Tageszeitung zeigt Autor Niklaus Hablützel, dass "die tageszeitung" (taz), ansonsten mit alternativen politischen Bewegungen vertraut, noch wenig von der Freien Software-Bewegung versteht.
Er kratzt zwar an der Oberfläche: "ohne die Firma Microsoft waren ... [ die Abgeordneten ] folglich nicht mehr in der Lage, auch nur eine einzige kleine schriftliche Anfrage an die eigene Regierung zu stellen."
bekennt dann, dass deutsche Abgeordnete doch mehr verstanden haben:
"Noch immer völlig ahnungslos in der Sache, verstehen sie Begriffe wie "Open Source" und die kollektive Entwicklung von Programmen in der Open-Source-Gemeinde so, als gehe es darum, demokratische Entscheidungen und Kontrollmechanismen einzuführen. Natürlich ist das absurd."
und schliesst mit:
"... die Vorstellung jedoch, dass Politiker demnächst nicht nur über Programme gegen die Arbeitslosigkeit, sondern auch noch über den besten Kernel für den Server des Arbeitsamts debattieren, ist so lächerlich, dass der diplomatische Konflikt der beiden Mächte bald überwunden sein wird. Leider hat die Kampagne der Open-Source-Bewegung damit einen schlechten Dienst erwiesen. Die eifrigen Politiker hätten ihre Zeit vielleicht besser darauf verwandt, die notorischen Geschäftspraktiken von Microsoft auch in Deutschland schärfer zu beobachten, statt mit der Maus herumzuklicken und von der neuen Spielzeugeisenbahn zu träumen, die "Linux" heißt."
Kontrolle der Hauptinformationsmedien, welche Grundlage einer Wissengesellschaft sind, wird eine grosse Rolle für die Demokratie spielen. Computer und Software werden immer mehr zur Kulturtechnik. Ob die taz diese Entwicklung verschläft, obwohl ich mir hier eine kritische Berichterstattung sehr wünschen würde?

Habe ich heute auch zur Kennniss genommen, diesmal aber nichts dazu geschrieben.
In den letzen Jahren habe ich Duzende von Mails an meine Genossen von der taz geschrieben um auf Fehler und Ungenauigkeiten in der Berichterstattung zu Software und Echelon aufmerksam zu machen. Insbesonders Artikel von Niklaus sind oft falsch oder polemisch gegen FS (z.B. behauptet er GNU sei seit Jahren eine Baustelle an der nichts funktioniert - dabei hat die taz unter seiner Leitung ihre gesamte IT Struktur auf GNU/Linux umgestellt). Ich habe noch nie eine Antwort erhalten ausser von externen Autoren.
Deswegen wundert mich so ein Artikel auch nicht. Ein Hinweis zum Bundestagbeschluss vom 9. Novemeber fehlte natürlich auch - alles in allem das inzwischen übliche taz Niveau.

Anscheined möchte die taz auch keine kritischen Leserstimmen auf der Webseite mehr. Ich wollte meinen Link auf meine Kritik als Kommentar schreiben. Dann sollte ich mich erstmal anmelden: Wir bedauern, mit der Registrierung aller TeilnehmerInnen Hu"rden aufzubauen, auf die wir gern verzichtet ha"tten. Die Erfahrungen der letzten Monate lassen jedoch leider nur den Schluss zu, dass Regelverletzungen einzelner TeilnehmerInnen nur durch Aufhebung der Anonymita"t entgegengewirkt werden kann.
Wer es dann versucht: Wegen in letzter Zeit stark angestiegenem Mißbrauch unseres Forums sind derzeit keine Neuanmeldungen möglich.
Na toll. Dann lieber das Forum weglassen. Ausserdem gibt es da auch andere technische Möglichkeiten. Heise und Linux-community lassen weiterhin anonyme Beiträge zu, wie machen die das bloss...

Zumindest was die Berichterstattung im Bereich Computer angeht. Andere Bereiche scheinen mir noch besser zu sein. Weiterhin vermisse ich informiertere Tageszeitungen zu dem Thema. :(
Hallo Bernhard & FSFE,
ist das nicht schlimm, wie die Presse so manches blockiert? In der ELUG veranstalten wir seit rund 2 Jahren jeden Dienstag kostenlose, völlig nicht-kommerzielle Linux-Abende, die jedem offenstehen.
Glaubt Ihr, daß das örtliche Zeitungsmonopol (WAZ und deren Tochter NRZ, die beide so tun, als ob sie Konkurrenten wären) uns jemals in den Veranstaltungskalender aufgenommen hätte? Trotz unzähliger Versuche unsererseits werden die Linux-Veranstaltungen seit 2 Jahren ignoriert.

Tja, die Rheinische Post hat schon mal was über unsere GNU/Linux Installationspartys gebracht. Allerdings haben wir uns da auch direkt um eine Lokalredakteur bemüht.
Fernsehen ist sowieso besser. Diese Bundextux Sache wäre doch zumindest etwas für eine Report Glosse.
