Da Knuth eine hohes Ansehen geniesst, ist die seine aktuelle Aussage mit Heise Interview sicherlich zu verwenden.
Ich halte die "Trivialität" nicht für das größte Problem, jedoch ist bei so verkürzten Aussagen auch nicht klar, was Knuth hier genau damit meint.
Hat wer Lust das übersetzten und in Europa kund zu tun? Oder gibt es schon Übersetzungen?

Hier in Europa gibt es eine andauernde Auseinandersetzung um Softwarepatente. Wie stehen Sie zu dieser Frage? Sind Programme Ihrer Meinung nach patentierbar?
Knuth: Ich bin ein wenig verwirrt. Als ich im Sommer in Schweden war, hieß es, das Gesetz sei gescheitert. Nun kommt es vielleicht doch.
Es ist jedenfalls gut möglich, dass eine entsprechende Regelung im zweiten Anlauf installiert wird.
Knuth: Wenn Sie die Anstrengungen gegen die Einführung von Softwarepatenten aufrecht erhalten können, werden meiner Meinung nach eine Menge Leute aus Amerika nach Europa kommen. Wenn es, als ich an TeX gearbeitet habe, die selben Regelungen gegeben hätte, die es heute in den USA gibt, hätte ich diese Arbeit nie erfolgreich vollenden können.
