Hallo,
der Freie-Software-Abend in Düsseldorf am 31.07.2019 fand wieder als themenzentrierter Gesprächsabend statt.
Nachdem bis kurz vor 20:00 Uhr alle Teilnehmer eingetroffen waren, wurde die Runde vom Freisitz in den Saal verlegt. Eine Vorstellungsrunde erübrigte sich dieses Mal, weil sich alle Teilnehmer kannten.
Thema des Abends war die Gewinnung von Menschen für Aufgaben und Projekte (Denglish: "Recruiting") sein.
Viele Projekte haben das Problem, dass sie wichtige Aufgaben, aber zu wenig Menschen zu deren Erledigung haben. Das wirft die Frage auf, wie ein Teufelskreis zu wenige Helfer -> Überforderung -> noch weniger Helfer vermieden werden kann. Andererseits ist es auch eine anspruchsvolle Aufgabe, eine Organisation vernünftig skalieren zu lassen. Hierüber sollte ein Austausch stattfinden.
Bei der Rekrutierung von Helfern konnte als ein Ratschlag festgehalten werden, dass es insoweit nützlich ist, die zu erledigenden Aufgaben im Vorfeld möglichst genau zu beschreiben: Es konnte die Erfahrung beichtet werden, dass Helfer nämlich oftmals eine falsche Vorstellung von Fähigkeiten, die zur Erfüllung benötigt werden, haben und sich diese Aufgabe nicht zutrauen.
Bei den drei größeren Freien-Software.Events in Deutschland sind mindestens zwei verschiedene Helfer-Tools im Einsatz. Während die OpenRheinRuhr das Tool verwendet, welches auch auf der FOSDEM im Einsatz ist, verwendet die FrOSCon das "Engel"-Tool, welches auch vom CCC benutzt wird. Möglicherweise verwenden die Chemnitzer Linux-Tage noch ein weiteres Tool.
Da nicht nur die Aussteller und Vortragenden, sondern auch die Helfer oft auf mehreren Veranstaltungen aktiv sind, wäre etwas mehr Vereinheitlichung aus "Nutzersicht" sicherlich wünschenswert.
Auch die sonstige Zusammenarbeit und der Erfahrungsausstausch unter den Orga-Teams scheint noch Intensivierungspotential zu haben. FOSS Events [1] ist insoweit ein Versuch, dessen Früchte leider noch nicht reifen konnten.
Als weiteres Problem wurde die Graduierung vom Helfer zum Orga-Team-Mitglied erkannt. Leider ist es so, dass Orga-Team-T-Shirts nicht unbedingt reißenden Absatz finden. Während die Projekte und Events auf eine gewisse Nachhaltigkeit des Engagements angewiesen sind, gibt es offenbar eine zu geringe Neigung, sich langfristig zu binden. Es wurde darüber gesprochen, wie man "über's Jahr" die bisherigen Helfer für den nächsten Einsatz motivieren und Kontakt zu ihnen halten kann, auch unter dem Aspekt des Abbaus der dargelegten "Bindungsangst".
Erwähnt wurde mit Blick über eine erfreulicherweise kaum noch wahrnehmbare Grenze die unkomplizierte, unbürokratische und nahezu lässige Art, mit der ein eher recht kleines Team die T-DOSE "stemmt", was zur besonderen familiären Atmosphäre dieser Veranstaltung beiträgt.
Ein paar erfreuliche praktische Dinge können auch berichtet werden.
Es besteht eine begründete Hoffnung, dass im nächsten Jahr wieder die OpenRheinRuhr stattfindet.
Spontan meldeten sich aus dem Teilnehmerkreis Menschen, die uns vor allem beim Auf- und Abbau auf der kommenden FrOSCon helfen wollen.
Und schließlich wurde auch darüber gesprochen, wie der diesjährige Software-Freedom-Day in Köln trotz widriger Umstände doch organisiert werden kann.
Nach dem themenzentrierten Gespräch haben wir zum weiteren "freien" Austausch wieder eine nahe Gaststätte aufgesucht. Bei alkoholfreiem und alkoholhaltigem Bier haben wir den Abend im Freien noch ein wenig genossen.
Die Teilnehmer des Abends sind eingeladen, meinen Bericht zu ergänzen oder bei Bedarf auch zu korrigieren. Bei den vielen Aspekten, die in diesem interessanten Gespräch ventiliert wurden, habe ich sicherlich manches vergessen.

Nachdem drei "Bonner" an unserem Freien-Software-Abend im Juni teilgenommen haben, gibt es eine schöne Gelegenheit für einen "Gegenbesuch".
