Es gibt natürlich Apple. Was ist denn mit x486 compatiblen?
International ist ja wahrscheinlich die Rechtslage anders, als in Deutschland oder Österreich. In Deutschland ist es zumindest erlaubt die Lizenzen wieder zu verkaufen. Schöner wäre es natürlich diese gar nicht erst kaufen zu müssen.

Werner Heiser von www.xtops.de und verschiedener Freier Software Laptop Dokumentation konnte von Asus mal Laptops beziehen, welche ohne Microsoft-Lizenz kamen, allerdings hat Asus das Angebot nur noch aufrecht halten können, wenn 10 am Stück abgenommen werden, was selten der Auftragslage bei Werner entspricht.

Man sollte IMHO heute keinen x86er Laptop mehr kaufen, sondern gleich auf ein iBook umsteigen.
In der letzten c't 8/05, S. 176 stand ein Bericht über die neuerdings sehr restriktive Aktivierungspolitik von MS. Die Online-Aktivierung von Windows XP wurde zumindest eingeschränkt; ich nehme an, sie wird bald ganz abgeschafft. Damit macht MS erstmals von der Möglichkeit gebrauch, XP sozusagen kalt abzuschalten.
Seit Linux für PPC verstärkt weiterentwickelt wird, dürfte das langfristig die wesentlich interessantere Architektur sein.
Wenn in dem Bereich also Öffentlichkeitsarbeit zu machen wäre, sollte über diese Zusammenhänge aufgeklärt werden. Denn wer nur darauf hinweist, daß man bei jedem Wintel-Rechner Windows automatisch mitkaufen muß, stößt bei den meisten Verbrauchern auf Unverständnis, weil sie gerade _das_ für normal und vorteilhaft halten.

Wenn hier von "Microsoft-Steuer" geredet wird und als alternative ein iBook vorgeschlagen wird, dann sollte man aber auch bedenken, dass man beim Kauf eines iBooks eine "Apple-Steuer" für MacOS zahlt.
Leider ist es heute so, dass man sowohl bei einem Notebook als auch bei einem iBook (fast) immer ein proprietäres Betriebssystem mitfinanzieren muss.

Das koennen wir als Kunden ausnutzen.
Fakt ist sogar, dass Kistenschieber Haendler, wie Media Markt, dem Vernehmen nach die Betriebsysteme nicht mal von Fesplatten loeschen beim Entbuendeln.

Da Microsoft den Markt beherrscht, ist Apple zumindest ein geringeres Problem. Für mich persönlich ist Vielfalt auch ein Wert und Apple trägt zur Vielfalt bei. Leider macht Apple auch viel proprietäre Software. Mich ärgert zum Beispiel auch die Zurückhaltung der technischen Informationen des Airport-Extreme, welches in den Geräten verbaut wird.

Meine kurze Internetrecherche hat nur Beschreibungen in anderen Ländern ergeben. Vielleicht würden ein paar Beschreibungen in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz hilfreich sein.
