Hallo ihr,
kurze Anmerkung, falls jemand nach einem passenden Thema sucht. In dem "Call for Papers" steht:
| „Freiheit hattet ihr im Übermaß, weit mehr als Vernunft“, schreibt | Stanisław Lem über den Menschen. Ist Freiheit also Fluch oder Segen? | Wie viel Freiheit ist gut für uns und wann muss die Vernunft wieder | Einzug halten?
Das schreit geradezu nach einem Vortrag über Copyleft versus Non-Copyleft, bzw. über die verschiedenen Lizenzen und Entwicklungs- modelle (2-BSD vs. 3-BSD vs. GPL vs. AGPL, eventuell auch die CC-Varianten beleuchten). Jeweils natürlich mit Schwerpunkt auf "Freiheits-Gehalt" mitsamt ihrer Vor- und Nachteile. Eventuell auch auf kurzfristige versus langfristige Freiheiten eingehen.
Nur so als Idee.

Liebes FSFE-Team,
ich schreibe euch als Vorstandsvorsitzende von /360° e.V. - Das studentische Journal für Politik und Gesellschaft/. Wir sind ein studentischer Verein, der jedes Semester eine Zeitschrift zu einem gesellschaftlich relevanten Oberthema herausgibt. Unser Ziel ist es, jungen Wissenschaftler_innen aus allen akademischen Bereichen vor Abschluss ihres Studiums die Möglichkeit zu geben, im professionellen Rahmen Arbeiten zu veröffentlichen, die voll zitierfähig sind und allen gängigen wissenschaftlichen Standards entsprechen. Außerdem wollen wir natürlich auch gesellschaftliche Diskussionen anregen, die sich abseits des Mainstreams bewegen.
Die nächste Ausgabe soll den Titel "Freiheit" tragen und das schreit geradezu nach einem Beitrag über Freie Software. Ein Freund hat mir euren Verein empfohlen und vorgeschlagen, euch einfach mal anzuschreiben. Vielleicht könnt ihr den aktuellen Call for Papers ja über euren Verteiler oder Newsletter schicken? Wir würden uns darüber sehr freuen!

es gab doch zeitweise die Hoffnung, dass Leute zu einem freien Betriebssystem wechseln, nachdem ihr Windows XP ausläuft und die neusten Windows-Versionen (7/8) nicht keiner besonderen Beliebtheit erfreuen - und für die Nutzer eine größere Umstellung als z.B. auf gängige Linux-Distros bedeuten würden.
Nunja, Irrtum. Windows XP wird inoffiziell noch mit Updates versorgt und wird uns wohl noch eine ganze Weile begleiten:

Danke für die Info! Das ist wichtig zu wissen, bevor man da leichtfertig eine Empfehlung für XP-Updates gibt.
Na die einzige Empfehlung die man geben kann: Hat Dein Rechner Kontakt zur Außenwelt (USB-Stick, Netzwerk), benutz' es nicht mehr. Es wurden ja selbst vor dem letzten Ende des Supportzeitraums lang nicht mehr alles gefixt, was gefunden wurde.
