Hinter "Linux" verbirgt sich nicht nur ein Betriebssystem für Computer. Wer sich mit Linux beschäftigt, stößt auf eine Weltanschauung: die Geschichte einer Idee. Die Idee der "freien Software". Und die betrifft nicht nur ein paar Computerfreaks.
Dabei wurden Jan Wildeboer, Thomas Gleixner, Florian Effenberger und ich interviewt.
Sind ein paar kleinere Punkte drin, die man etwas anders hätte erklären können (auch von meiner Seite), aber ansonsten ein sehr gut gelungenes Feature für eine breitere Öffentlichkeit.
Oder was haltet ihr davon?

danke für den Hinweis zu diesem insgesamt gelungenen Beitrag, der es schafft, alle für den Einstieg wichtigen Aspekte zur Thematik in überschaubarer Zeit "polyphon" unterzubringen und bis hin zur Hintergrundmusik zu einer positiven FLOSS-Aufbruchsstimmung beizutragen.
Die Punkte, die meinem Eindruck nach ungünstig vermittelt werden:
1. Im ersten Drittel wird ein Gegensatz zwischen "frei" und "kommerziell" (statt zwischen "frei" und "proprietär") eingeführt. Selbst, wenn das "strategisch" war, um dem Vorurteil dann zur Mitte hin zu begegnen, bleibt es doch hängen.
2. Der Abschnitt zu Stallman und zur FSF wirkt nachträglich eingefügt (als hätte man ihn/sie zunächst vergessen) und wurde (zumindest für mich) unverständlich mit Linus Torvalds/Linux verknüpft. Die einzige Verbindung im Beitrag scheint mir diese zu sein, dass GNU keinen Kernel hatte und Linus Torvalds dann Linux als solchen entwickelte. Dann wird im Beitrag plötzlich aus Linux ein Betriebssystem, wobei unklar bleibt, was Linux mit der vorher noch erwähnten FSF und dem GNU-Projekt zu tun hat. Mir ist klar, dass es wahrscheinlich zu komplex gewesen wäre, an dieser Stelle auf die "GNU/Linux"-Bezeichnungsthematik einzugehen, aber dann hätte man die Thematik, was GNU mit Linux softwaretechnisch zu tun hat, auch gleich umschiffen und die Bedeutung der FSF durch die Entwicklung der GPL und ihren Beitrag auf Linux durch Fokus auf die Lizenz plausibel machen können (und zwar so, dass aus "kostenlos" [1] letztlich "frei im Sinne Freier Software/der GPL" [2] wurde).
