Hallo FSFE-Community,
seit einiger Zeit (~ März 2013) lese ich hier mit. Seit dem wurde jedoch nicht über ein bestimmtes Thema diskutiert, dies wollte ich nun nachholen. Ich möchte gerne etwas nachfragen und zwar würde ich gerne wissen:
Wie ist die Lizenzkompatibilität zwischen der GPLv2 und GPLv3 gegeben?
Um die Antwort selbst zu finden, machte ich mich auch auf die Suche nach einer Antwort, aber eine zufriedenstellende Antwort habe ich nicht erhalten. Scheinbar gibt es auch weitere Personen, die diese Thematik beschäftigt, so fand ich ein Pastebin mit einem ähnlichen Anliegen[1] und interessanten Ausführungen des Schreibers.
Über eine Antwort zu meinem Anliegen würde ich mich freuen.

Nachdem ich den von dir verlinkten Pastebin Eintrag überflogen habe, nehme ich an, dir geht es um eine ähnliche Situation. D.h. Du hast mehrere Softwarepakete, die mehr oder weniger eng zusammenarbeiten und teilweise GPLv2only, GPLv2+ oder GPLv3only verwenden.
Wenn Lizenzen auf solche Art in einem Projekt gemischt werden, lohnt sich jedenfalls ein Blick auf die konkrete Art der Verwendung - immerhin bedeutet die Verwendung inkompatibler Lizenzen, dass die Software möglicherweise nicht mit allen Komponenten gleichzeitig genutzt werden kann.
Es kann aber durchaus Situationen geben, wo dieses "Mischmasch" der Lizenzen kein Problem darstellt:
Entweder, weil die einzelnen Komponenten unabhängige eigenständige Werke darstellen, die nur "lose" miteinander verbunden sind (z.B. über Message- Passing).
Oder weil die Nutzung verschiedener Komponenten sich gegenseitig ausschließt. Ein Besipiel hierfür wäre, dass eine GPLv2+ Komponente wahlweise von einem GPLv2only oder GPLv3only Webservice genutzt wird. D.h. die beiden inkompatiblen Komponenten haben hier überhaupt keine Vernetzung zueeinander.
Das ist natürlich nur meine Laienmeinung als Softwareentwickler. Vielleicht kann hier jemand meine Darstellung ergänzen oder berichtigen, falls nötig.

Ich denke, ich starte einen eigenen Thread um meine Situation konkreter zu definieren.

Verständlich. Ich selbst habe auch kein abgeschlossenes Jura-Studium oder eine juristische Ausbildung, sondern interessiere mich nur für freie Software.
