könnt Ihr ein Smartphone mit möglichst weitgehender Unterstützung für freie Software empfehlen, das auch von Laien verwendet werden kann? Zumindest nach der erstmaligen Installation sollte das Gerät möglichst ohne weitere Pflege durch einen Profi funktionieren...
Gibt es (günstige) Alternativen zum Fairphone 2?

Hallo Stefan,
ich habe mir letztens bei ebay ein gebrauchtes "Motorola G (1. Gen.)" gekauft, wo der Vorbesitzer LineageOS vorinstalliert hatte. Ich habe es dann nochmal neu installiert, aber es war schon alles vorbereitet. Gebraucht ist ja quasi auch eine Variante von fair.
Hier mein Erfahrungsbericht: https://framagit.org/feinstaub/tp64/tree/master/weitere/workshop-smartphone/... Damit bin ich sehr zufrieden.
Davor hatte ich ein Samsung Galaxy S2 mit Replicant. Das ging aber irgendwann leider kaputt. Von dem LG G3 D855 würde ich die Finger lassen, weil Hardwarefehler.

https://www.shiftphones.com/ bieten wenigstens ein google befreites android zumindest für die neueren modelle mit android 8 an.

Hi,
günstig und fair geht zur Zeit vermutlich nur ein gebrauchtes Smartphone mit Replikant oder LineageOS. Bei beiden kannst du auf deren Homepage nachgucken, welche Modelle unterstützt werden.
Wenn du beim Flashen Hilfe brauchst, kannst du dich vielleicht an die örtliche LUG oder Repaircafés vor Ort wenden.
Ansonsten fällt mir noch das Sony Xperia X mit SailfishOS ein, wobei Sailfish von Jolla leider nicht zu 100% frei ist, da die UI wohl ziemlich closed ist. [1]
Oder vielleicht geht auch ein gebrauchtes OnePlus One mit Ubuntu Touch, das mittlerweile ein Community Projekt ist. [2]
Für das Nexus 5 gibt es übrigens auch Plasma Mobile. [3]
Für Starter ist aber vermutlich das Android basierte LineageOS mit F-Droid als AppStore die besser Alternative.

Darauf lässt sich auch prima LineageOS installieren. Ich bin vor einigen Monaten stumpf der Anleitung Schritt für Schritt gefolgt und war vollkommen verwundert, dass es nirgendwo hakte.

Der Empfehlung kann ich mich anschließen.
Im Detail würde ich https://lineage.microg.org/ empfehlen, eine Variante von LineageOS.
Fairphones laufen gut, weitere Hardware von der ich persönlich gehört habe, dass sie gut funktioniert: * Google Geräte (vermutlich gebraucht, weil die neuen recht teuer sind) * Samsung Geräte (wenn unterstützt, da gibt es viele) * Sony (wenn unterstütt, lassen sich rooten, SailfishOSX läuft beispielsweise auf einem Sony Xperia Z)

danke für den Hinweis. Bin nie dazu gekommen, mich mal näher mit SailfishOS zu befassen: Inwiefern ist SailfishOS denn Freie Software bzw. was lässt sich mit den Bestandteilen, die ggf. frei sind, alltagstauglich nutzen (wobei bei mir "alltagstauglich" momentan ein CustomRom+F-Droid ist)?

Leider habe ich mich auch nicht wirklich intensiv mit SailfishOS beschäftigt. Ich habe es nur einmal auf meinem Fairphone installiert um es mir anzusehen. (Es machte durchaus einen guten Eindruck auf mich.) Ich weiß nur, dass Teile der GUI und der Android-Stack nicht frei sind.
Benutzbar war das Image das ich mir auf mein Telefon geladen hatte auf jeden Fall, aber man musste sich ein Konto bei Jolla anlegen um den eingebauten Store nutzen zu können und dort wird nicht nur freie Software gelistet. Ich würde auch nicht davon ausgehen, dass es einen Filter dafür gibt.

Ich bin mir nicht sicher ob man damit telefonieren kann aber es hat ein 3G/4G Modem ist nur leider kein wirkliches telefon sondern mehr eine art spielekonsohle, computer. www.dragonbox.de

Wenn du magst, kannst du mein gebrauchtes Fairphone 2 günstig haben. Hat nen zweiten Akku dabei (den man auch braucht) und ist in sehr gutem Zustand, nur die Hülle ist defekt, aber da könnte ich vielleicht noch Ersatz vom Hersteller organisieren, weil das ein bekanntes Problem ist.
Das schöne am Fairphone 2 ist, dass du direkt vom Hersteller ein Image bekommst, das bis auf Firmware und Treiber komplett Freie Software ist und das auch noch mit Sicherheitsupdates (aber sonst keinen Updates) versorgt wird.
Was mir nicht gefallen hat und warum ich das Fairphone 2 jetzt übrig habe, ist die schlechte Akkulaufzeit (ist aber auch ein bekanntes Problem und wird eventuell gefixt, liegt wohl am Annäherungssensor) und, dass manche Simkarten regelmäßig Abstürze verursachen. Das war zwar meistens nachts der Fall und daher nicht ganz so tragisch, aber hat mich auf Dauer genervt.
Ansonsten kannst du aus meinem Wechsel auf eine Empfehlung ablesen: Ich bin jetzt bei einem gebrauchten Oneplus 5 gelandet. Gebraucht deswegen, weil ich damit aktuell auch die Herstellungsbedingungen, die beim Fairphone 2 besser sind, fast ignorieren kann.* Beim Oneplus 5 bin ich gelandet, weil das sehr gut von Lineage OS unterstützt wird die Oneplus-Geräte in unserer Community recht verbreitet sind (neben den Fairphones), d.h. sie werden wohl auch in Zukunft recht gut unterstützt werden. Auf das Oneplus 5 statt 3, 3T, 5T oder 6 bin ich deswegen gekommen, weil das mit Abstand die beste Akkulaufzeit hat. Beim 5T ist die schon wieder leicht niedriger und auch bei den Vorgängermodellen. Nach den Erfahrungen mit dem Fairphone 2 war das für mich am wichtigsten und bei meinen bisherigen Erfahrungen hält das Oneplus 5 locker doppelt so lange wie das Fairphone 2 durch (jeweils mit einem Akku). Der Akku ist übrigens fest verbaut, was ich nie wollte, aber er ist relativ leicht selbst wechselbar. Ich bin jedenfalls sehr zufrieden, bin aber auch noch in der Honeymoon-Phase, d.h. das kann sich noch ändern.

Wenn wir eine größere Gruppe wäre, könnte man argumentieren, dass man mit der Unterstützung des Gebrauchtmarktes auch den Verkauf von neuen Telefonen, die unter schlechten Bedingungen hergestellt werden, fördert. Dadurch, dass wir so eine kleiner Anteil am gesamten Gebrauchtmarkt sind, ist das aber wohl vernachlässigbar, zuimindest aktuell.
