Für eines meiner neuen Projekte

brauche ich einen Link auf eine deutsche Version der GPL (ich will das Bild unter die GPL stellen). Doch ich finde trotz ausführlicher Suche auf www.fsfeurope.org keine Veröffentlichung der GPL. Weder Englisch, noch Deutsch. Am liebsten hätte ich Deutsch.
Ist die GPL so versteckt auf Euren Seiten oder habt Ihr einen Link dorthin vergessen bzw. wollt ihn gar nicht?

2. Frage: Einer der zentralen Gedanken der Freien Software ist für mich die Wissens-Allmende - der allgemein, von jedem nutzbare Bereich des Wissens. In diesem Zusammenhang würde ich gern ein Poster herausbringen, das in Form eines Stammbaums darstellt, wie der Status der Computertechnik, den wir heute nutzen, entstanden ist.
Soweit ich das sehe, gäbe das nämlich eine ziemlich eindrucksvolle Menge an klar sichtbaren proprietären Sackgassen:
a) Wenn ich an die ganzen Netzwerk-Standards denke, dann basieren wir heute auf dem (soweit ich weiß immer frei gewesene) TCP/IP, während die ganzen proprietären Wege (Novell, MS, Token-Ring,...) allesamt sich als Sackgassen entpuppt haben.
b) An Datenformaten ist heute wohl HTML zahlenmäßig dominant. Ebenfalls ein (soweit ich weiß) freies Format.
Sehe ich das richtig, daß ein solcher Stammbaum ein ganz gutes Argument für die Freie Software werden könnte?
Wenn ja, dann bräuchte ich jemanden, der solch einen Stammbaum (nur inhaltlich, nicht künstlerisch) als Auftragsarbeit erstellen kann. Entweder als Bleistiftskizze oder als Grafikdatei. Diese Arbeit wäre mir 5000 DM wert. Anschließend würde ich einen Künstler beauftragen, daraus ein "schönes Bild" zu machen.

IMO, ja - aber ein wirklich schwieriges Unterfangen will man nicht sich nicht allzu heftiger Kritik durch Unachtsamkeit aussetzen.

Ja, leider. :) Georg war beispielsweise letztes Wochenende in Birmingham, um dort Freie Software weiter zu bringen.
Wahrscheinlich haben sie einfach vergessen eine Seite mit dem Text der GPL auch auf den fsfe-Seiten unterzubringen.

Einen solcher Stammbaum wäre eine grosse wissenschaftliche Arbeit, da es da enorm viel zu recherchieren gibt. So weit ich weiss hat die iX oder so mal einen Stammbaum von Unix-Varianten veröffentlicht, der hilft aber auch nur begrenzt.

Einzelheit sollen eigentlich zügig veröffentlicht werden. Es geht erstmal um einen Verein der Freie Software förder und assoziiert werden kann.

Die Ergebnisse sind von Alex Hudson auf fsfe-uk@gnu.org skizziert worden. Der erste Schritt ist die Erschaffung einer assoziierten Organisation, damit die Arbeit beginnen kann.
Darauf basierend wollen wir dann später das Chapter als gemeinnützige Organisation in UK gründen. Dabei handelt es sich ja weitestgehend um einen "legalen Hack", der sich nach den Rechtsräumen richtet.
Die Irlandfrage wurde erstmal weitestgehend ignoriert. Natürlich sind die Iren in der assoziierten Organisation willkommen, wenn sie aber lieber eine eigene Organisation haben möchten, unterstützen wir sie gerne dabei. Auch die Schotten dürfen gerne ihre eigene assoziierte Organisation gründen, wenn sie das möchten - unseren Segen (und den der im Aufbau befindlichen UK Organisation) haben sie dafür.
Die Gruppe, die sich dafür zusammengefunden hat, besteht aus sehr guten und fähigen Leuten, so z.B. Phil Hands (Debian UK Mirror) oder Alaisdair Kergon von der UKUUG.
Bemerkenswert ist übrigens noch, daß dies das *erste* Treffen Freier Software in UK war, die Szene ist dort sehr "zersplittert", wie es scheint.
