I believe the patents directive is not on the agenda for todays Council Of Ministers meeting and have been unable to find out when the new directive will be before the European Parliament.
This is interesting news. If I have time on Saturday, I will try to find out what is happening.
On a related issue, I received a reply from the Tanaiste's office confirming that our letter arrived on 21st. This does not mean that Mary Harney saw it on the 21st, of course.

I rang the relevant section of Enterprise and Employment today after reading the ENN article, they said that they received an agenda in August to prepare briefing papers and there was no mention of the patent directive at that stage?
