"Among those opposing any amendments was Irish MEP Brian Crowley"
What is the story with this guy? Might it be worth meeting him and trying to talk some sense or is he too far gone?

He was on our side in Sept 03 (his EP group voted 100% with us) and probably up until the time of the Irish presidency. Then he had a lobotomy courtesy of party colleagues such as Charlie McCreevey.

Any point in calling him on his apparent change of heart? (ie. contrasting his votes in sept03 with his position now).
Ian.
Ciaran has met with Brian Crowley, the only Irish MEP on JURI. Ciaran, could you arrange another meeting?

Last time he said he'd meet me anytime. The MEPs are here in Brussels for plenary sessions on Wed and Thurs, so he should be here.
Tomorrow morning I'll be phoning MEPs to get appointments. He's on my list.
Among other things, I'll ask him if he'll be voting for the (ffii written) amendments he tabled in the first reading.
