Hi Sam,

How admirable you were to come to lead the FSFE meeting last Thursday evening after the fatal accident. Hope you get well soon.

I'd be happy to help with the following two tasks (perhaps on this year's Document Freedom Day). Will also print and disseminate the DFD posters around.

- Somebody to ask Devon to add an explanation to their link to pdfreaders
about what a Free Software PDF reader is
- Somebody to file lots of freedom of information requests to ask councils what
information do they have about their PDF advice, how does this comply with
national law, and what steps have they taken to consider free software
alternatives as recommendations to the public

Best wishes,
Yuwei

Thanks to everybody who came to the meeting last night, here is a summary of
what we discussed:

*Document Freedom Day & PDF Readers*

- Anna to speak to Erik Albers <eal@fsfe.org> about sourcing ethical handcuffs
for Document Freedom Day packs to politicians
- Sam to investigate use of writetothem.org, mysociety for "write to your mp
 about open standards" DFD plan
- Andy to help with case of student expelled for using FS
- Somebody to ask Devon to add an explanation to their link to pdfreaders
about what a Free Software PDF reader is
- Somebody to file lots of freedom of information requests to ask councils what
information do they have about their PDF advice, how does this comply with
national law, and what steps have they taken to consider free software

*Mailpod*

- Community hosting project name is mailpod.org (decided by vote)
- Mark to ask his contact about about legal requirements of storing mail
server logs and access to user emails
- Somebody from mailpod to ask GreenNet about above legal issues
- Mailpod will use fsfe infrastructure for general info website, initially at
 least
- Future FSFE meetings will be separate from mailpod meetings
- We have demand for mailpod workshops covering system administration and HTML
authoring - these workshops can be part of the next mailpod meeting
- Mailpod team roles:
- - Webmasters - David (HTML and content, not CSS / design) a possibility,
   also James (via Anna)
- - System administrators - Sam, David (mailing lists), Mark in due course
- - System monitoring - Anna
- We can map out the actual categories of skills required for the project,
look where there are gaps ad try and fill them with classes etc.

*Next Meeting*

- Talk for March 29th meeting will be on Jack audio server (decided by vote)

Thanks,

Sam.

PS Thank you so much to everybody for signing my card, and the bag of goodies.
I was utterly surprised, a little overwhelmed, and very, very grateful.
