I believe that you're interested in digital communication privacy, and I was wondering if you know anything about an issue I'm researching.
The Manchester Free Software Foundation Europe Fellowship group is working on a project to provide community mail hosting in a local and privacy conscious way. We'd like to store the mail of our users in encrypted containers that the system administrators don't have access to, so that user privacy is guaranteed. We'd also like to not keep any logs of mail processing (message headers etc.).
Do you know if doing either of these things would be legal in the UK? Have you experience in setting up an encrypted storage system like the one outlined above?
