Ho voluto iniziare a scrivere queste note dopo aver lasciato decantare
l'entusiasmo: è giusto celebrarsi, ma i successi non devono far cadere
la tensione a migliorare.
Il LDMI16 è stato indubbiamente un successo, perché abbiamo raggiunto
gli obbiettivi che ci eravamo proposti.
Tali obbiettivi erano:

- due tracce di talk
- le installazioni di Interaction Design
- il Coderdojo
OTTENERE UNA BUONA PARTECIPAZIONE
- Linux Day # 200+

Inoltre, e forse è la cosa più importante, alla fine ci siamo pure
divertiti ad organizzare il tutto.
È stato un impegno e una fatica, ma chi ci ha lavorato lo ha fatto
volentieri, e questo è il presupposto per rifarlo e per coinvolgere
altri attivisti.
Il successo raggiunto rende però evidente la limitatezza degli
obbiettivi iniziali, che erano confinati all'orizzonte temporale di
sabato 22 ottobre.
Se abbiamo colpito nel segno, molti visitatori saranno usciti dal Linux
Day con qualche buon proposito:
- migrare al software libero (da Windows a Linux, o da MS-Office a
Libre Office)
- creare un sito con strumenti open source (CMS o website generator)
- educare i figli al pensiero computazionale
- guardare all'Interaction design in modo consapevole
- cominciare a programmare con Arduino
- gestire i server con i tool più efficienti
- ...
- partecipare alla comunità
È qui che secondo me dobbiamo lavorare: se abbiamo suscitato interesse,
occorre che questo non cada nel vuoto. Visto il panorama attuale, penso
si debba lavorare per fornire un supporto a chi dopo il Linux Day vuole
fare un passo ulteriore.
Altrimenti la curiosità si spegne dopo aver sfogliato le poche e modeste
riviste di settore, dopo aver cercato invano un negozio che venda pc con
Linux, dopo aver cercato su Google corsi su Linux e aver visto che hanno
costi proibitivi, e che sono rivolti principalmente ad aziende.
Non possiamo certamente colmare il vuoto lasciato dal mercato, però
possiamo organizzare al meglio le risorse disponibili.
La lista di cose da fare è in parte già popolata dal backlog non ancora
smaltito:
- pubblicazione delle presentazioni
- consolidamento su Mailchimp del database di indirizzi email in una
lista di chi ha partecipato o mostrato interesse per LDMI16 e/o Coderdojo
- invio del follow-up tramite Mailchimp (ringraziamento per la
partecipazione e link ai materiali pubblicati)
- refactoring del sito (è bello e ha funzionato, ma adesso va
strutturato in modalità "multi edizione": previous/current/next)
- pubblicazione del rendiconto contabile [0]
Inoltre possiamo valutare l'attivazione di ulteriori strumenti, usati
per organizzare eventi simili come la DUCC-IT [1] o l'ESC [2]:
- mailing-list (già abbiamo LinuxDay(a)atrent.it [3], si tratta solo di
decidere come farlo evolvere/convivere con altre mailing list (vorrei in
particolare esplorare l'utilizzo dei "topic tag")
- file sharing su Seafile/ownCloud (attualmente stiamo usando Google
Drive)
- wiki
Il Linux Day ha creato nuovi contatti, l'ultimo dei quali con il neonato
gruppo FSFE Milano [4]
È stata anche l'occasione, per OpenLabs, di aderire a ILS - Italian
Linux Society.
Nelle prossime settimane cercheremo di risolvere il problema della sede,
in modo da svolgere più efficacemente il ruolo tipico di un LUG, che è
quello di essere un punto di riferimento sul territorio.
Cercheremo di fare da hub e da supporto alle iniziative dei gruppi più
specializzati, e in questo invitiamo ad "utilizzarci" senza alcun imbarazzo.
Concludo ringraziando tutti per i risultati ottenuti e per l'energia che
siamo riusciti a suscitare, ma soprattutto sollecito osservazioni e
commenti a queste mie considerazioni, che vogliono essere un punto di
partenza e non di arrivo.
