] == Software Freedom Day: Quale alternativa a Skype? == La comunità del Software Libero celebra globalmente il Software Freedom Day[1], che si tiene ogni anno il terzo sabato di settembre, con vari eventi ed incontri. Il nostro gruppo Fellowship di Manchester[2]si è incontrato per discutere e verificare quale alternative esistano a Skype. Hanno effettuato test estensivi, e pubblicato i risultati[3]. 1.

Abbigliati con felpe riportanti lo slogan "Independent through Free Software", il nostro Gruppo Fellowship viennese[4]ha tenuto un banchetto informativo, distribuendo 300 CD live con Software Libero ed oltre 1000 volantini[5]. Presso l'evento Freedom Kosova 2012, Erik Albers ha tenuto una conferenza[6], aiutando anche a liberare alcuni telefoni Android. Un ulteriore numero di telefoni sono stati liberati durante il workshop Free Your Android[7]che Torsten Grote ha organizzato durante l'evento SFD a Berlino. Il nostro presidente, Karsten Gerloff, ha redatto una serie di articoli sui brevetti software, facendo riferimento alla situazione odierna a livello comunitario[13], ed ha pubblicato i suoi appunti[14]a proposito del "Caso dei Brevetti", una bozza di articolo degli economisti Michele Boldrin e David K. Levine. Conclude che non possiamo "lasciare il caso all'EPO" e che "la politica dei brevetti deve essere integrata in una più ampia strategia di innovazione" all'interno dell'UE 13.

== Il Primo Ministro francese ha redatto delle linee guida a favore del Software Libero == Dopo l'approvazione, in Italia, della nuova legge[15]sugli appalti nel settore del software, che introducono una chiara preferenza per il Software Libero sul software proprietario, anche la Francia si è messa in moto: il 19 settembre il primo ministro Jean-Marc Ayrault ha sottoscritto delle linee guida[16]indirizzate a tutti i ministri, per le quali le pubbliche amministrazioni francesi devono preferire il Software Libero. I vantaggi che il primo ministro vede nel Software Libero sono i costi inferiori e i miglioramenti a livello di flessibilità e competizione nel mercato del software. La pubblica amministrazione deve compiere "una scelta consapevole", e "analizzare sistematicamente le alternative libere quando scelgono sviluppi e revisioni di applicativi." 15.

I servizi informatici interministeriali hanno fornito una serie di raccomandazioni da implementarsi dai ministeri, con lo scopo di sviluppare e migliorare l'utilizzo di Software Libero, come: trovare alternative libere, collaborare e contribuire al lavoro delle comunità, o migliorare la conoscenza del Software Libero e delle licenza libere. == Altre notizie == - Le politiche del Software Libero francesi, italiane, britanniche o svedesi sono state anche d'attualità nel parlamento tedesco. Il 21 Settembre, chi scrive è stato invitato ad intervenire in quanto esperto di Software Libero. Durante le prossime settimane, riceverete un riassunto di questo argomento, ma fino ad allora, potete leggere le domande[20]a cui chi scrive ha risposto, insieme ai link alle argomentazioni scritte degli altri esperti invitati. - Il presidente della FSFE Karsten Gerloff è stato molto impegnato con le conferenze: durante l'evento finlandese Openmind, ha affrontato l'argomento delle migrazioni al Software Libero, degli appalti, e degli ostacoli comuni. Il servizio Joinup della Commissione Europea ha riportato la notizia (in inglese)[23]. - "Come cambiare la licenza, in modo che il software non possa essere usato per finalità militari?" Richard Stallman ha pubblicato un articolo[24]spiegando perché un programma non debba restringere che tipo di utilizzo ne venga fatto dagli utenti, e perché non sia possibile fermare la tortura attraverso le licenze software. - "Chi controlla internet controlla i dati. Chi controlla i dati, controlla il futuro", sostiene Georg (T)ORwell nell' ultimo episodio "Big Brother is WWWatching you"[25]di Juice Rap News. Si tratta di alcuni argomenti correlati al Software Libero ed ai vantaggi di TOR[26], e riguarda anche il router Linksys-WRT-54, che è stato il primo caso di violazione della licenza GNU GPL portato in tribunale nella storia. - Grazie a Kåre Thor Olsen l'articolo"La democrazia ha bisogno del Software Libero"[27]è ora disponibile in Danese.
