== Risana il tuo smartphone! ==
Gli smartphone sono piccoli computer che portiamo sempre con noi. Sfortunatamente, la maggior parte degli smartphone non sono controllati da noi, gli utenti, ma da imprese e da operatori. Anche i cellulari Android vengono consegnati con software non libero ed estensioni proprietarie, che in genere non funzionano nel nostro interesse. Aggiornamenti software continueranno ad essere disponibili se l'azienda in questione mantiene un'interesse commerciale sul tuo modello di telefono. Le applicazioni disponibili sul mercato ufficiale sono spesso proprietarie. A nessuno è permesso studiarne il funzionamento, e sapere cosa fanno effettivamente sul tuo telefono. A volte non funzionano come vorresti tu, potrebbero persino avere funzioni maligne.
Eseguire solo Software Libero ti permette di avere il controllo completo sul*tuo*telefono. Anche se non sei in grado di esercitare direttamente tutte le libertà, puoi beneficiare di una comunità attiva che può aiutarti a farlo.
La FSFE sta raccogliendo informazioni[1]su come eseguire un sistema Android in modo più libero possibile. Cerchiamo di coordinare i diversi sforzi, ma ci serve il tuo aiuto. Iscriviti alla mailing list, aggiorna il sito wiki, e fa sì che più persone possano utilizzare il Software Libero sui computer che usano ogni giorno.

== Lezione 1: Impara a programmare! ==
Il nostro Education Team[2]ha portato a termine un importante lavoro nel 2011[3], tra cui la nostra nuova campagna NL edu[4]. Il software Libero permette ai bambini di imparare il funzionamento del software, apprendendone i concetti di fondo. In questo modo sono pronti ad adattarsi a qualunque ambiente: si tratta di una competenza fondamentale nel mondo di oggi. Inoltre, crediamo che la possibilità di esplorare motivi i bambini ad apprendere in modo autonomo. Infine, il Software Libero permette loro di comprendere il funzionamento dei computer con una maggiore profondità.

La BBC ha chiesto a Sam Tuke di commentare[5]la decisione del governo britannico di considerare l'insegnamento di competenze informatiche sui curriculum nazionali, sotto il punto di vista dell'impatto che ciò potrebbe avere sulla società, relativamente alle nostre modalità di interagire con la tecnologia. Gli Standard Aperti rendono più facile migrare al Software Libero a individui, aziende e amministrazioni pubbliche. Lo scopo del Document Freedom Day[6]è quello di sensibilizzare l'opinione pubblica sugli Standard Aperti, in modo da offrire alle persone un maggior grado di libertà. Quest'anno, chi scrive, si occupa del DFD, e promuoverà con convinzione questa iniziativa, in questa e nelle prossime newsletter. Ammettiamolo, la comunità del Software Libero è spesso molto critica. Segnaliamo i bug, diciamo come gli altri come potrebbero migliorare il software, richiediamo nuove funzioni, e non facciamo economia di critiche. A volte dimentichiamo di dire "Grazie per il vostro lavoro". Ma da qualche anno ciò è cambiato, almeno per un giorno. Quindi, Martedì 14 Febbraio celebriamo la giornata"I love Free Software"[28]
Attivati, offri da bere al tuo programmatore preferito, o abbraccialo (ma prima chiedigli il permesso), scrivi una e-mail/lettera esprimendo i tuoi sentimenti[29], crea foto carine, dona a un progetto sul Software Libero, segui uno dei nostri suggerimenti[30], o usa la tua creatività per mostrare come apprezzi la gente che lavora duramente per allargare o difendere la nostra libertà.
