FSF Europe veröffentlicht Treuhänderische Lizenzvereinbarung V1.0

Die Free Software Foundation Europe freut sich, die erste
öffentlich verfügbare Version ihrer Treuhänderischen
Lizenzvereinbarung (FLA) ankündigen zu können; einer Vereinbarung,
die helfen wird, das juristische Fundament Freier Software zu
stärken, indem sie es der FSF Europe erlaubt, zum Treuhänder Freier
Software-Autoren und -Projekte zu werden.
Dadurch wird die Treuhänderische Lizenzvereinbarung die juristische
Wartbarkeit Freier Software stärken, und sicherstellen, daß es auch
weiterhin juristisch einwandfrei ist, Freie Software in allen
kommerziellen und nicht-kommerziellen Bereichen einzusetzen.
Weiterhin wird es einerseits die juristischen Risiken für Freie
Software Autoren senken, während es der FSF Europe möglich gemacht
wird, Freie Software für die Autoren gegen Mißbrauch zu schützen -
auch vor Gericht, sollte dies nötig werden.
Und schließlich bildet es einen verläßlichen neutralen Boden für
Projekte, an denen Parteien beteiligt sind, die sich in ihren
Zielen und Verhaltsmaßstäben unterscheiden, seien diese nun
kommerziell oder nicht-kommerziell.
"Wir sehen eine zunehmende Zahl von kommerziellen oder durch die
öffentliche Hand geförderten Projekten," sagt Georg Greve,
Präsident der FSF Europe. "Dies neigen dazu, zeitlich begrenzte
Partnerschaften zwischen Parteien zu sein, die in anderen Gebieten
gegenläufige Interessen haben."
Georg Greve fährt fort: "Daher wird es zunehmend wichtig, Lösungen
zu finden, die es den Projekten erlaubt, nach dem Ende der
offiziellen Zusammenarbeit zu erblühen; denn dann hat normalerweise
das Leben eines Freien Software Projekts gerade erst begonnen. Das
FLA bietet so eine Lösung."
