Am heutigen Montag um 16:00 Uhr findet im Rechtsausschuss des Bundestags
die Anhörung der Sachverständigen zu Software-Patenten statt. Anlass ist
der interfraktionelle Antrag zu "Wettbewerb und Innovationsdynamik im
Softwarebereich sichern – Patentierung von Computerprogrammen effektiv
begrenzen"[1].
Die Free Software Foundation Europe hat ihre Stellungnahme zur Anhörung
veröffentlicht [2] und in der Anhörung selbst wird
Deutschlandkoordinator Matthias Kirschner [3] als Sachverständiger
teilnehmen.

Die Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) ist eine gemeinnützige,
regierungsunabhängige Organisation, die in vielen Ländern Europas

== Document Freedom Day 2013 ==
Jedes Jahr am letzten Mittwoch im März findet der Document Freedom Day
(DFD)[1]statt: Der weltweite Tag, um die Bekanntheit von Offenen
Standards zu vergrößern, welcher von der FSFE organisiert wird. Es war
Jahr für Jahr großartig, wie die Nachricht von Freiheit und Offenen
Standards immer weiter rund um die Welt getragen wurde. Dieses Jahr gab
es 59 Veranstaltungen in 30 Ländern, darunter viele erstmalige
Teilnehmer, etwa Niger, Indonesien und die Vereinigten Staaten.

Die Höhepunkte des Document Freedom Day umfassen mehr als einhundert
Presseartikel[2]und Blogs, die Publikation eines Migrationsleitfadens
von Libre Office[3], Unterstützung von Lawrence Lessig[4]und ein Sturm
an Berichterstattung in sozialen Medien und gestarteten Diskussionen.

Aber es darf nicht vergessen werden, dass alle diese Veranstaltungen von
lokalen Gruppen organisiert wurden. Unter ihnen waren viele FSFE
Fellowship-Gruppen, eine große Vielfalt an anderen Freie Software
Gemeinschaftsorganisiationen und Team von Freunden, die Offene Standards
wichtig nehmen. Also, das ist ein großes Dankeschön an jeden, der den
diesjährigen DFD so erfolgreich gemacht hat! Es ist großartig zu

== Freie Software Rechts-Lizensierungsworkshop ==
Anfang April haben wir unseren jährlichen Freie Software Rechts-
Lizensierungsworkshop in Amsterdam veranstaltet. Mehr als 70 Freie
Software Rechtsexperten des Legal Networks[6]sind für zwei Tage
zusammengekommen, um ihr Wissen zu teilen und topaktuelle Fragen in
diesem Bereich zu diskutieren.

Diskutierte Themen waren in diesem Jahr unter anderem kürzliche
Gerichtsbeschlüsse, Entwicklungen im Patentbereich und der Umsetzung
von Lizensierungsideen Freier Software auf Hardware. Stefano Zacchiroli,
Debians (nun ehemaliger) Projektleiter, hat eine Grundsatzrede gehalten,
in der er die Perpektive der Community bezüglich juristischer Fragen
beschreibt[7].

== FSFE heißt Ceata als assoziierte Organisation Willkommen ==
Eine neue Stiftung aus Rumänien und Moldawien ist den Assoziierte
Organisationen der FSFE[11]beigetreten. Ceata[12]fördert Freie Software
und Kultur seit 2008 und wurde Februar diesen Jahres offiziell
eingebunden. Die Gruppe, die in Bucharest ansässig ist und lokale
Abteilungen in Cluj und Chișinău führt, organisiert Konferenten zu
Freier Software, Freier Hardware und Freier Kultur. Ceata entwickelt
zusätzlich ihre eigenen Anwendungen, übersetzt Programme ins
Rumänische und nimmt an internationalen Kampagnen teil. Fundația Ceata
and FSFE werden sich nun zusammenschließen[13]und effizienter an der
Förderung von Softwarefreiheit in Rumänien und in ganz Europa
arbeiten.

== Etwas völlig anderes ==
- Der Deutsche Bundestag hat einem gemeinsamen Antrag gegen
Softwarepatente zugestimmt[14]. Die Resulotion fordert die
Bundesregierung dazu auf, Schritte zu unternehmen, um die Genehmigung
von Patenten auf Computerprogramme zu limitieren. Der Beschluss des
Parlaments erinnert die Regierung daran, dass, nach der
Computerprogrammdirektive der EU, Software von Urheberrechten und
nicht Patenten abgedeckt wird. Er ermahnt die Regierung, endlich den
"Urheberrechtsansatz" der Direktive in die Praxis umzusetzen und das
Deutsche Recht in dieser Hinsicht konkreter zu gestalten. Er betont
zudem, dass die Restriktionen, die durch Patente einhergehen,
inkompatibel zu den meistgenutzten Freie Software Lizenzen sind.
- Der Gewinner der Wahl für die FSFE Fellowship Vollversammlung[15]ist
Heiki "Repentinus" Ojasild[16]. Die Wahlperiode für den Sitz der
diesjährigen Fellowship VV endete am 15. März und hat sich bis zum
Ende als spannend erwiesen. Ein Dankeschön an alle Fellower, die an
dem Vorgang teilgenommen haben und dies zu einer wertvollen Erfahrung
für das Fellowship und die FSFE gemacht haben.
- Bitte begrüßen Sie die neueste Fellowshipgruppe aus Bari in
Süditalien[17]! Die Art, wie die Gruppe entstanden ist, ist einmalig
in der Geschichte der FSFE: Als vormalige GNU/Linux-Nutzergruppe
traten 15 Leute gleichzeitig der FSFE bei, um eine neue
Fellowshipgruppe zu eröffnen. Nach Aussage der Mitglieder haben sie
diesen Schritt unternommen, um in Zukunft aktiver auf politischer
Ebene zu sein.
- Der Präsident der Freien Universiät Berlin hat alle seine
Mitarbeiter dazu aufgefordert, exklusiv "Apple iTunes U" für die
Veröffentlichung von Universiätsmaterialien, wie etwa
Vorlesungsaufzeichnungen, zu nutzen. Um auf die Materialien der
Universität zugreifen zu können, müssen Studenten nun daher Apple
iTunes verwenden, welches Benutzer von Freier Software-Betriebssysteme
ausschließt und eine Vielfalt an nutzerfeindlichen Maßnahmen
einschließt, um sie an den Dienst zu binden. Die FSFE hat sich
schriftlich an den Präsidenten gewendet und erklärt, warum
Universitätsmaterialien ohne Softwarehürden verfügbar sein
sollten[18].
- Als Teil der Kampagne "Fragen Sie Ihre Kandidaten"[19]hat die FSFE
für alle drei Wahlen, die im Herbst diesen Jahres stattfinden,
Wahlprüfsteine verschickt. Das Ziel ist, öffentliche Stellungnahmen
bezüglich Freier Software und verbindliche Zusagen von Parteien zu
bekommen, die hoffen gewählt zu werden. Einige Antworten sind bereits
eingetroffen und werden bald veröffentlicht.
- Die FSFE hat diesen Monat an der Konferenz Chemnitzer
Linuxtage[20]teilgenommen. Der FSFE-Stand hat viel Aufmerksamkeit
erregt und viele Leute haben das Team kontaktiert, um Fragen zu
Kampagnen zu stellen. Free Your Android hat sich als angesagtes Thema
erwiesen und viele Fragen und Ideen aufgeworfen. Reinhard Müller,
Finanzleiter der FSFE, hat einen Vortrag mit dem Titel "Befreie dich
selbst: Wie man die Welt in fünf einfachen Schritten rettet" gehalten
und Erik Albers, stellvertretender Fellowship-Koordinator, hat eine
Präsentation über Free Your Android gehalten. Erik war diesen Monat
im Befreiungsrausch und hat den selben Vortrag auf der Cebit in
Hannover[21]gehalten. Die Organisatoren der Konferenz haben den
Vortrag gefilmt und online gestellt[22], aber unglücklicherweise nur
in Adobe Flash.
- Von der Sammlung der Blogbeiträge[23]:
- Hugo erklärt, warum der[24] video[25]-Tag ein Fehltritt war[26]und
immer noch ist. Er erläutert, dass wir uns in den politischen Prozess
einschalten sollten, der HTML5 ausarbeitet, und die umgebende Furcht,
Unsicherheit und Zweifel[27]bekämpfen sollten, damit das Internet
weiterhin ein Ort sein kann, wo jeder die Freiheit hat, sich frei
auszudrücken - ohne um Erlaubnis zu fragen oder eine restriktive
Patentlizenz unterschreiben zu müssen.
- Mia Julia Eley ermutigt Frauen, die an Technologie und Ingenieurwesen
interessiert sind[28], sich für GNOMEs Öffentlichkeitsprojekt für
Frauen[29]zu bewerben. "Sehr viele Frauen da draußen haben
Fähigkeiten, die für die Freie Software-Bewegung von Vorteil sein
können und die Eintrittsbarriere sollte klar verständlich sein",
erkläutert sie.
- Torsten Grote berichtet über die jüngsten Änderungen in der
Datenschutzpolitik von CyanogenMod [http://www.cyanogenmod.org/].
Zuvor haben sie anonymisierte Daten für statistische Zwecke
gesammelt, mit der Möglichkeit für jeden, die Funktion zu
deaktivieren. Auf einen Schlag wurde die Zustimmungsverweigerung
entfernt und eine Trackingfunktion wurde hinzugefügt, welche
gesammelte Daten auch an Google Analytics sendet. Nach einigen Tagen
wurde die erste Entscheidung rückgängig gemacht, was bedeutet, dass
Sie wieder die Möglichkeit haben, ihre Zustimmung zu verweigern. Aber
es ist immer noch so, dass bei der Zustimmung, dass die Daten zu
CyanogenMod gesendet werden, diese auch an Google Analystics
übermittelt werden. Lesen Sie alle Einzelheiten in Torstens Blog[30].
- Paul Boddie denkt über "Die akademische Herausforderung: Ideen,
Patente, Offenheit und Wissen" nach und erklärt, warum Universitäten
auf der Freiheit von Wissens und nicht nur der Verteidigung der
Offenheit von Wissen beharren sollten. Lesen Sie, warum es keine
Kommerzialisierung der akademischen Welt und keine Monopolisierung von
Ideen geben sollte[31].
- Haben Sie schon Ihre Fellowship-Karte eingerichtet? Wenn nicht,
könnten Sie an der Anleitung von Jens Lechtenbörger[32]interessiert
sein, welche den bereits bestehenden Leitfaden[33]erweitert.
- Weiterhin erklärt Jens Lechtenbörger, warum Ubuntu-Benutzer wegen
Datenschutzgründen nicht auf Ubuntu 12.10 oder 13.04 updaten
sollten[34], sondern stattdessen bei der Version 12.04 LTS bleiben
sollten.
- Zum Schluss etwas vergnügliches: Henrik Sandklef zeigt, wie Sie Ihren

sie zu einer Ablehnung des "Encrypted Media Extensions"-Vorschlags (EME,

darauf ab, Unterstützung für "Digital Restriction Management" (DRM,
Digitale Rechteverwaltung) in HTML5 einzubauen und könnte eine

= Internationaler Tag gegen DRM: Gegen bewusst verkrüppelte Technologie kämpfen =

Diesen Freitag, den 3. Mai 2013, tritt die FSFE der 8. internationalen
"Tag gegen DRM"-Kampagne [1] bei, um Digitale Rechteminderung zu
beenden. Der Kampf gegen DRM hat in den letzten Wochen an Bedeutung
gewonnen. Freiheitsaktivisten haben sich gegen DRM in HTML5 zusammen
getan und die schädlichen Auswirkungen dieser Technologie auf
Innovationen und die Freiheit der Benutzer deutlich gemacht. Am heutigen
Tag gegen DRM wird unsere Schwesterorganisation Free Software Foundation
die Petitionsunterschriften gegen DRM in HTML5 dem World Wide Web
Konsortium (W3C) in Boston überbringen.
Sie haben noch ein paar Stunden, um aktiv zu werden: Folgen Sie der
FSFE, FSF und 25 anderen Organisationen, die digitale Freiheiten
verteidigen, und unterzeichnen Sie die Petition gegen DRM in HTML5. [2]
Würde die Einbindung von DRM in HTML5 akzeptiert werden, würde das W3C
die Interoperabilität gefährden und die Tür für die Implementation von
restriktiven Technologien im Herz des Internets öffnen.
Gerätehersteller und geschäftliche Urheberrechtsinhaber haben ihre
Produkte bereits enorm mit anwenderfeindlichem DRM infiziert. Tablets,
Mobiltelefone und andere Kleincomputer werden mit zahlreichen,
eingebauten Restriktionen verkauft, die die Freiheiten des Benutzers
stark schädigen. Der Vorschlag, der dem W3C vorliegt, geht noch weiter.
DRM erschafft beschädigte Güter [3], die der Benutzer nicht
kontrollieren oder frei verwenden kann. Es erfordert die Aufgabe der
Kontrolle über die eigenen Computer und schränkt den Zugang zu digitalen
Daten und Medien ein. Wehren Sie sich dagegen: Nutzen Sie den heutigen
internationalen Tag gegen DRM, um die Nachricht zu verbreiten und mit
anderen darüber zu sprechen!
