Die Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) kündigt einen Übersetzungsmarathon ihrer Webseiten vom 15. Dezember 2008 bis zum 11. Januar 2009 an. Das Ziel dieses Marathons ist es, Informationen über Freie Software und die Arbeit der FSFE in so vielen Sprachen wie möglich verfügbar zu machen.
Als einen ihrer wichtigsten öffentlichen Kommunikationskanäle betreibt die FSFE eine Website auf http://www.fsfeurope.org/. Diese Texte zu übersetzen und sie so für Menschen mit verschiedenen Muttersprachen verfügbar zu machen war schon immer eine wichtige Aufgabe. Dank der unermüdlichen Arbeit von Dutzenden von Freiwilligen in ganz Europa sind diese Seiten in bis zu 26 verschiedenen Sprachen abrufbar.
Die Übersetzung der FSFE-Webseiten ist eine gewaltige Aufgabe. Mehr als 250 Seiten sind online, und wöchtentich werden einige Seiten hinzugefügt oder aktualisiert und benötigen neue Übersetzungen. Es gibt immer etwas zu tun. Zusätzliche Hilfe ist immer willkommen.
Deshalb kündigt die FSFE einen vierwöchigen Übersetzungsmarathon vom 15. Dezember 2008 bis zum 11. Januar 2009 an, kombiniert mit einem Aufruf für zusätziche Helfer. Der Job: Übersetzen von Englisch in andere europäische Sprachen und korrekturlesen von Übersetzungen. Die Mission: So viele Übersetzungslücken wie möglich zu füllen. Der Kandidat: Du.
Das Übersetzen und Korrekturlesen von Texten ist ein wertvoller Beitrag für die Arbeit der FSFE und eine exzellente Gelegenheit, sich ohne langfristige Verpflichtungen spontan einzubringen. Außerdem ist es eine tolle Möglichkeit, ohne finanziellen Einsatz etwas beizutragen.
