1. Erstes österreichisches Fellowship Treffen
Karin Kosina und Reinhard Müller organisierten den ersten österreichischen Fellowship-Stammtisch. Dort konnten sich die Fellows und andere an der Arbeit der FSFE interessierte Leute treffen, sich über die FSFE informieren und Erfahrungen und Meinungen über Freie Software austauschen. Wegen des allgemein positiven Echos der Teilnehmer werden solche Treffen in Wien nun zweimal im Monat geplant. Aber auch andere Mitglieder der FSFE beginnen damit, ähnliche Treffen in anderen Städten durchzuführen. Alle Ereignisse dieser Art werden auf der Fellowship-Website angekündigt:
2. Tweakfest in Zürich
Die Akademie für Design und Kunst in Zürich war der diesjährige Austragungsort für die zweitägige Konferenz zu digitalen Medien und Kunst, der "Tweakfest 2005" unter dem Motto "Visions of Digital Lifestyle". Georg Greve hielt eine Grundsatzrede über die Bedeutung digitaler Freiheit und über die gegenwärtige Situation der Regulierung von Wissen auf der ganzen Welt. Im Folgenden nahm er an einer Forumsdiskussion teil, die den Titel "Copy Right" trug. In seinem Blog schreibt er auch über die tanzenden Roboter, die ihm sehr gefielen:

3. UN World Summit on Information Society (WSIS)
Der Weltgipfel der Vereinten Nationen zur Informationsgesellschaft (WSIS) hat während der letzten Monate eine erhebliche Aufmerksamkeit durch die Presse und Medien erfahren. Dies resultierte wohl hauptsächlich aus der Diskussion innerhalb der "Working Group on Internet Governance" (WGIG). Die FSFE hingegen ist im WSIS-Prozess bereits seit dessen Start eingebunden, und auch wenn viel von ihrer Arbeit in den vergangenen Jahren von der Öffentlichkeit weitestgehend unbeachtet blieb, stellen sich die Mühen jetzt doch als sehr wertvoll heraus.
Im spanischen Bilbao wurde eine Versammlung von Städten und Kommunen als Vorbereitung des WSIS in Tunis durchgeführt. Ca. 2000 Gemeindevertreter kamen von der ganzen Welt, um daran teilzunehmen. Jonas Öberg war für die FSFE zugegen und zeigte eine Präsentation über Gesetze, die die Informationsfreiheit betreffen, und wie diese mit Freier Software zusammenhängen.
Der Präsident der FSFE, Georg Greve, nahm an der zweiten Phase des Gipfels in Tunis teil und koordinierte den Entwurf der "Patents, Copyrights and Trademarks" (PCT) Arbeitsgruppe der Zivilgesellschaft für die Abschlusserklärung der Zivilgesellschaft. Außerdem dokumentiert er verschiedene interessante Projekte in seinem Blog und führte viele interessante Diskussionen. Er nahm ebenfalls an einer Nebenveranstaltung teil, die sich mit der zukünftigen Entwicklung der "World Intellectual Property Organisation" (WIPO) auseinander setzte. Dieses Treffen, an dem sich auch der stellvertretende Generaldirektor der WIPO, Philippe Petit, beteiligte, erfuhr große Aufmerksamkeit.

4. LinuxWorld Expo in Frankfurt/Main
Die FSFE war mit einem Stand auf der LinuxWorld Expo in Frankfurt/Main vertreten. Dort stellten sich Volker Dormeyer, Joachim Jakobs, Myriam Schweingruber, Michael Kallas, Bernhard Reiter, Reinhard Müller, Cornelius Wasmund und Matthias Kirschner erfolgreich einer Vielzahl von Fragen über Freie Software. Besonderer Dank gilt Volker, der wieder einmal hervorragende Arbeit bei der Organisation des FSFE-Auftritts leistete.
5. Seminar über Möglichkeiten zur Verhinderung von Softwarepatenten
Ciaran O'Riordan hielt eine Grundsatzrede und nahm zusammen mit Gareth Bowker an einer sehr lebendigen Frage- und Antwort-Runde im Rahmen eines Seminars teil, das O'Rioardan in Zusammenarbeit mit der Irish Free Software Organisation arrangiert hatte. Unter den Anwesenden befanden sich Journalisten, Entscheidungsträger, und die in Irland größte sich für Softwarepatente einsetzende Lobbygruppe. 6. Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre in Rosario (Argentinien)
Die "Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre" finden jeses Jahr an einem anderen Ort in Argentinien statt. Die fünfte Ausgabe wurde durch eine sehr engagierte Gruppe von Freie-Software-Aktivisten vorbereitet und wurde in Rosario veranstaltet. Durch Georg Greve wurde unter dem Titel "Digitale Freiheit - Warum sie so wichtig ist und wie man sie schützen kann" eine Grundsatzrede gehalten. Dies gab dem Präsidenten der FSFE die Möglichkeit, einige Zeit mit der lateinamerikanischen Freie-Software- Gemeinschaft zu verbringen. Außerdem wurde, nachdem die meiste Zeit der Veranstaltung auf die genaue Bewertung der Statuten und der Kommentierung durch die Konferenzteilnehmer verwendet wurde, die offizielle Gründung der neuen Schwesterorganisation der FSFE, der Free Software Foundation Latin America (FSFLA) bekanntgegeben. Im Namen der FSFE nahm Georg Greve als Gast an der offiziellen Vorstellung der FSFLA teil und hieß sie im globalen Netzwerk der Free Software Foundations willkommen.
7. LinuxDay in Italien
Der LinuxDay in Italien besteht aus einer Reihe von Aktionen im Zusammenhang mit Freier Software und wird, koordiniert durch die "Italian Linux Society", von lokalen Benutzergruppen organisiert. Dieses Jahr beteiligte sich die FSFE zum ersten Mal auf nationaler Ebene, indem Stefano Maffulli eine achtminütige Video-Botschaft an die Teilnehmer sandte, in der er allen einen großartigen Tag für die italienische Freie-Software-Gemeinschaft wünschte. Er beschrieb die Geschichte der Freie-Software-Bewegung, die Erfolge und die künftig zu erwartenden Herausforderungen, wie etwa die IPRED2 und der Kampf gegen das berüchtigte "Legge Urbani".

8. Bezüge auf Freie Software aus den "Vienna Conclusions" der WSIS entfernt
Im Juni diesen Jahres waren die FSFE-Mitglieder Georg Greve und Karin Kosina an der "ICT & Creativity"-Konferenz in Wien beteiligt. Am Ende der Veranstaltung standen die "Vienna Conclusions", die sich wesentlich von dem Text, den die Arbeitsgruppe in Wien beschloss, unterschieden. So wurden alle Bezüge zu Freier Software entfernt, Werbung für das Digital Restriction Management (DRM) hinzugefügt und die Feststellung der zentralen Bedeutung von Software für die digitale Gesellschaft wurden verwässert - offensichtlich auf Betreiben von Microsoft und IFPI.

9. Begrüßung der Free Software Foundation Latin America
Die Mitwirkung der FSFE an UN Organisation wie der WSIS or der WIPO hat ihre Arbeit über die Grenzen Europas ausgedehnt. Aufgrund dieser Erfahrungen bekennt sich die FSFE mehr als je zuvor zum Konzept eines weltweiten Netzwerks gleichberechtigter Free Software Foundations, die miteinander in enger Kooperation arbeiten.
Die gesamte Free Software Foundation Europe ist daher sehr stolz und glücklich über die neue Schwesterorganisation, nicht zuletzt weil die FSFE ihren Teil zu ihrer Entstehung beitragen konnte. Die FSFE begrüßt die FSFLA auf das Herzlichste im Netzwerk der Free Software Foundations und blickt positiv auf eine fruchtbare Kooperation in der Zukunft.
