Bienvenido al excepcionalmente largo boletín de noticias de la FSFE de noviembre. En Europa la FSFE se ha visto implicada en charlas, reuniones, cursos y pruebas públicas de nuevas tecnologías. En el mundo hemos participado en el reciente encuentro en Brasil del Foro para la Gobernanza de Internet.
Como siempre, el trabajo de la FSFE se ha visto completado por las contribuciones de los Fellows. Este mes hay que tener especialmente en cuenta los Fellows de Nijmegen, Dusseldorf y Berlín que participaron en coloquios sobre diversos temas. En Berlín se discutió el incremento del uso del Software Libre en los móviles, mientras que el tema elegido en Dusseldorf y Nijmegen fue el de los negocios y el Software Libre. 11. La FSFE informa sobre la privacidad y la libertad en Schwetzingen.
1. Foro para la Gobernanza de Internet de las Naciones Unidas.
El gobierno de Brasil acogió el Segundo Foro para la Gobernanza de Internet (IGF, por sus siglas en inglés) en Río de Janeiro. En el Foro se señalaron los estándares abiertos como una cuestión clave, también se agradeció el trabajo constante que la FSFE ha venido desarrollando en los últimos años y la buena colaboración con algunos grupos en la Coalición Dinámica para los Estándares Abiertos (DOCS, por sus siglas en inglés). Georg Greve, presidente de la FSFE, estuvo bastante ocupado con la preparación de la conferencia «Standards Edge» del Bolin Group previa al Foro y en varios grupos de trabajo en la materia, incluyendo la sesión de seguridad de la asamblea general. Los estándares abiertos seguramente jugarán un papel importante en el futuro trabajo de la ONU.

2. Reunión en Londres del proyecto STACS.
El 2 de noviembre la FSFE organizó una sesión de formación para organizaciones civiles, como parte del proyecto STACS (FP6-2005-Science-and-Society-19-044597), con el fin de mejorar el concimiento de las organizaciones civiles sobre el Software Libre y demostrar cómo funciona. La sesión tuvo lugar en el Hub de Londres y asistieron una mezcla de participantes de organizaciones civiles, tanto del área metropolitana de Londres como del resto del Reino Unido y de algún que otro país europeo. La sesión concluyó con el deseo de todos los participantes de mantener sesiones similares con otras organizaciones civiles en otros lugares a lo largo de Europa.
3. Trophees du Libre 2007 en Soissons
El Trophees du Libre, organizado por CETRIL, es el premio con varias categorías más importante de Software Libre . El 29 de noviembre se celebró la cuarta edición del Trophees du Libreen en el Chateau de Villeneuve Saint-Germain con participantes venidos de lugares tan diversos como Taiwán, Israel o Montreal. Habiendo participado en el jurado el año pasado, el presidente de la FSFE Georg Greve fue invitado a presidir el jurado en la edición de este año y a moderar la ceremonia de la entrega de los premios. Mientras que la becaria de la FSFE Irina Dzhambazova aprovechó la oportunidad para conocer más proyectos y colaborar en el evento de la mejor forma que pudo.

4. Cursos de formación en Estocolmo y Nimega
El 8 de noviembre la FTF en colaboración con la Academia de Internet de Estocolmo (Suecia) presentó un curso sobre la estrategia de implementación del Software Libre en los negocios. El 26 de noviembre la FTF y el ATCompunting de Nimega (Holanda) impartieron el mismo curso. La FTF ahora ofrece cursos en Suecia, Suiza y Países Bajos; y espera expandirse pronto a otros países. 5. Eventos FTF en Linz, Lausana, Nimega y Dusseldorf
La FTF ha estado muy ocupada en este mes. Shane Coughlan, coordinador de la FTF, dio el 3 de noviembre una conferencia titulada «Free Software, licensing and business processes» en la elce2007 de Linz (Austria). También habló los días 21 i 22 de noviembre en la Escuela de Derecho y Negocios de la Universidad de Lausana (Suiza). El día 26 asistió a una reunión del programa Fellowship en Nimega (Holanda) y el día 28 dio una charla para los Fellows de Dusseldorf sobre las cuestiones de licenciación del Software Libre y los flujos de trabajo en la empresa. 6. Actividades de la fundación en Suecia.
El equipo sueco de la FSFE ha estado muy ocupado durante todo el mes realizando diversas presentaciones en Suecia sobre el proyecto SELF y el Software Libre. La primera presentación tuvo lugar el 7 de noviembre en el Real Instituto de Tecnología de Estocolomo, seguida por otra en el University College de Borås el día 9. El 12 en la Universidad de Umeá, el 19 en la Universidad Mid Sweden en Sundsvall, el 20 en la Universidad de Karlstad y el 21 en la Universidad de Linköping.
Todos los actos tuvieron buena asistencia, con una mezcla de estudiantes, profesores y otras personas relacionadas con las facultades. En todas las presentaciones se remarcó en cómo SELF contribuye, no solo a educar en el Software Libre, sino también en reforzar la filosofía del Software Libre de compartir y cooperar en otras áreas.
7. Coloquios de la Fellowship sobre el uso de Software Libre en móviles.
El 13 de noviembre hubo una reunión local de la Fellowship en Berlín. El Fellow Robert Schuster dio una charla sobre la importancia de OpenMoko para la comunidad del Software Libre. Hubo una interesante discusión sobre qué significa esto para la libertad de la persona, tanto como las posibilidades que estas libertades posibiliten pymes que puedan ofrecer servicios especiales para sus clientes. Se decidió que los Fellows de Berlín se reunirían el segundo martes de cada mes en la tienda de Newthinking. Al finalizar la reunión se fueron a un pub para conocerse mejor.

8. La FSFE revisa la información sobre las patentes de software
Hay un aumento de debate sobre las patentes de software dentro de las instituciones, así que estamos revisando la información publicada en nuestra web. Ya hemos realizado algunas actualizaciones y, durante las próximas semanas, continuaremos proporcionando más documentación sobre el estado actual y resúmenes sobre lo que se ha aprendido y lo que ha sucedido.

9. SELF en versión beta y corrigiendo sus errores
Después de la publicación de la plataforma SELF en período de pruebas, el equipo de desarrollo ha estado trabajando intensamente para corregir los errores e implementar las funcionalidades que le faltaban a la plataforma. En enero de 2008 entrará en vigor en Alemania la directiva de retención de datos. Y existen otras amenazas en Alemania, como la «ley de hackers», la «búsqueda en linea» o la tarjeta electrónica de sanidad. Por esta razón, la FSFE está organizando un acto para informar al público sobre los riesgos que se aproximan para la libertad y la privacidad.
