1. Gareth Bowker rejoint l'Assemblée Générale de la FSFE
Après que Gareth Bowker ait longtemps travaillé dans l'équipe FSFE, la Free Software Foundation Europe est fière d'annoncer qu'il a rejoint l'assemblée générale. Avec cette nouvelle étape, Gareth s'est impliqué dans le travail de la FSFE à long terme et a accepté les responsabilités légales et politiques liées au travail de la FSFE.
Son attachement renforce le rôle de la FSFE au Royaume-Uni et se voit chaudement accueilli par l'ensemble des membres de l'Équipe.
2. La Free Knowledge Foundation s'associe à la FSFE
La Free Knowledge Foundation, une association espagnole à but non-lucratif, est devenue la première organisation associée à la FSFE en Espagne. La FKF comme la FSFE attendent impatiemment une collaboration étroite et de nombreux projets fructueux. Avec la FKF, la prochaine étape sera de construire une Équipe Espagnole pour la FSFE.

3. Consultations de l'ONU sur le Forum de Gouvernance de l'Internet (IGF)
Lors du Sommet Mondial des Nations Unies sur la Société d'Information, Kofi Annan, le secrétaire général des Nations Unies, avait demandé à ce que soient organisées des consultations sur l'établissement d'un Forum de Gouvernance de l'Internet. Le but de ces consultations était de déterminer la portée et le mandat de l'IGF. Les propositions étaient assez diverses et allaient de "problèmes regardant les noms de domaine uniquement" à "tous les aspects de l'Internet y compris le spam, la cyber-criminalité, le respect de la vie-privée et les personnalités online" pour la portée et de "forums de discussion uniquement" à "politique publique globale" en terme de mandat. Le président de la FSFE, Georg Greve, a participé à ce meeting pour défendre les intérêts du Logiciel Libre ; les propositions de la FSFE et plus d'informations sont disponibles sur son blog :

4. UN WIPO: Provisional Committee on a Development Agenda (PCDA)
La série de rencontres Inter-gouvernementales, inter-sessions de l'année dernière (IIM) sur une réforme potentielle de l'Organisation Mondiale de la Propriété Intellectuelle (WIPO) a fini dans une impasse, dû largement à un blocus de la part des Etats-Unis d'Amérique. En conséquence de quoi, la dernière assemblée générale a décidé de mettre sur pied deux réunions PCDA d'une semaine à Genève, la première desquelles a eu lieu le mois dernier à Genève. La FSFE était représentée par son Président Georg Greve et l'ex-interne, actuellement membre d'équipe Karsten Gerloff qui ont a travaillé dur pour promouvoir des réformes au WIPO. 5. Le bureau de la FSFE déménage à Düsseldorf
Après sa fondation en 2001, la Free Software Foundation Europe a maintenu un petit bureau administratif et de distribution à la Villa Vogelsang à Essen. Le bureau était généreusement mis à disposition par Reinhard Wiesemann de la Villa Vogelsang, patron visionnaire de la FSFE, qui permit également à Martin Gerwinski de passer une partie de son temps payé par le Linuxhotel de travailler également sur des tâches de la FSFE. Le reste du temps était du volontariat de la part de Martin Gerwinski. Tous deux: Martin et Reinhard méritent et reçoivent nos sincères remerciements et notre reconnaissance pour leur importante contribution.
Comme la FSFE s'est rapidement agrandie au cours de l'année passée, le bureau tel qu'il existe actuellement ne peut assumer tout le travail nécessaire, c'est pourquoi la FSFE est fière de vous présenter Rainer Kersten. Il est entré dans le personnel salarié pour s'occuper de tout le travail administratif et travaille avec le chef de bureau de la FSFE, Wener Koch, pour établir le nouveau bureau à Düsseldorf.
6. Seconde rencontre Fellowship à Berlin
Pour la seconde fois, les Fellows de Berlin se sont rencontrés pour discuter et coordonner leurs activités. La FSFE est heureuse de voir les Fellows prendre des initiatives et travaille constamment avec eux pour améliorer l'infrastructure qu'ils peuvent utiliser librement. Actuellement, nous travaillons sur la possibilité de créer des mailing lists ad hoc et un Wiki est prévu.
7. L'affaire antitrust Microsoft : 2 millions d'euros par jour
Le mois dernier était aussi le moment où la Commission Européenne a finalement décidé de ne plus permettre à Microsoft d'ignorer ses obligations antitrust et l'a contraint à payer 2 millions d'euros pour chaque jour de non-conformité aux règles. Microsoft essaye toujours de tricher un peu plus longtemps ; la FSFE exprime donc son approbation à la Commission.

8. La FSFE au FOSDEM
Comme tous les ans, la Free Software Foundation Europe a participé à l'un des grands classiques européens : le FOSDEM à Bruxelles. Georg Greve, Ciaran O'Riordan, Henrik Sandklef, Pablo Machón et Reinhard Müller ont presenté divers aspects du travail de la FSFE en une série de courtes interventions. Volker Dormeyer, coordonateur de la FSFE et membre de long-terme de l'Équipe, a fait un travail exceptionnel de coordination. Une équipe de 16 personnes de la FSFE et de ses associés, spécialement la Free Knowledge Foundation et Wilhelmtux, se sont réunis pour cet événement et ont aidé à en faire un franc succès.
9. Fellowship : Obtenez une inscription de 3 mois à LWN et gagnez un ordinateur portable !
Le Fellowship de la FSFE est une part essentielle et un élément moteur du travail de la FSFE. Il rend possible beaucoup de ce que vous avez pu voir ci-dessus, et permet d'exposer le nombre de personnes qui s'intéressent à ces problèmes. La FSFE apprécie fortement l'aide et le support de tous les Fellows, et est fière de voir cette communauté pour la liberté numérique s'aggrandir.
