1. Loi antitrust contre Microsoft: Une victoire pour le Logiciel Libre et la libre concurrence
La demande de la Commission Européenne à Microsoft de cesser l'obstruction sur l'interopérabilité avec ses produits et également de cesser ses pratiques de vente liée a été entendue par la Cour Européenne en première instance.
Ces événements ont pour origine une plainte de Sun Microsystems à propos d'un manque d'information sur l'interopérabilité avec les produits Microsoft depuis 1998. Celle-ci a mené à une décision de la Commission en 2004 indiquant que Microsoft biaisait le marché de façon injuste. Microsoft fit alors appel contre cette décision à la Cour Européenne. Cet appel a maintenant été rejeté sur tous ses points et il a été également noté que la Commission avait été indulgente envers Microsoft sur certains points.

2. OMPI: La FSFE appelle à l'interopérabilité et aux Standards Ouverts
L'Assemblée des Etats Membres de 2007 a été plutôt houleuse et n'a pu obtenir de consensus malgré la longueur des débats. Ceci a été dû pour une bonne part au tumulte fait autour du directeur général de l'OMPI, Kamil Idris, et à des allégations de mauvaise conduite. Il y avait également des tensions sur les cotisations que l'OMPI reçoit et les besoins d'améliorer l'efficacité de l'organisation. Il devint néanmoins rapidement clair que ce budget pouvait mettre en danger le succès d'accords tels que l'Agenda de Développement.
En réponse, la FSFE appelle l'OMPI à utiliser pour ses besoins propres des Standards Ouverts, indépendants des fournisseurs et interopérables, et appelle également les comités de l'OMPI à étudier les Logiciels Libres et les Standards Ouverts de plus près:

3. La Freedom Task Force signe un accord de principe avec le TIS Free Software Center, dans le Tyrol du sud en Italie
La Freedom Task Force de la FSFE a signé un mémorandum d'accord avec le TIS Free Software Center portant sur une coopération accrue dans le domaine des licences de Logiciels Libres et sur la formation. Les deux groupes souhaitent collaborer de manière étroite sur le développement de services communs.

Le ministère chilien de l'économie a mis en ligne sur You Tube l'enregistrement de la rencontre entre le Ministre chilien de l'économie, Alejandro Ferreiro, et le président de la FSFE, Georg Greve. Les discussions abordent l'économie des Logiciels Libres et la législation nécessaire pour créer un chemin de transition vers la liberté.

5. La FSFE soutient une manifestation contre l'accroissement de la surveillance des communications numériques
Le chapitre allemand de la FSFE a soutenu une manifestation dont le slogan était « La Liberté au lieu de la peur - Arrêtons la manie de la surveillance ! » le 22 septembre à Berlin. Au total, plus de 15 000 personnes ont participé à la manifestation.
La manifestation s'est élevée contre la rétention des données de télécommunications, une question d'actualité brûlante dans l'agenda politique d'automne en Allemagne. D'autres problèmes ont été soulevés comme par exemple le projet de surveillance cachée des ordinateurs connectés à Internet.
En soutenant cette manifestation, la FSFE met l'emphase sur la valeur de la liberté dans les communications numériques. L'ampleur de l'événement montre que les gens considèrent les restrictions continuelles imposées par les lois de surveillance comme inacceptables. Il s'agissait en effet de la plus grande manifestation en faveur des libertés civiques et du respect de la vie privée en Allemagne depuis 1987.
6. La FSFE présente la FSCONS et le Scandinavian Free Software Award
La Conférence Scandinave sur le Logiciel Libre (FSCONS) se tiendra à Gothenburg en Suède les 7 et 8 décembre 2007. C'est le premier événement de ce genre dans la région, il a été inspiré par l'élan grandissant envers les Logiciels Libres. Des programmeurs de haut vol, des bidouilleurs, des avocats et des représentants du gouvernement tiendront des conférences sur tous les domaines des Logiciels Libres. Le but de la manifestation est de faire parler des Logiciels Libres.
En tant que participante à la FSCONS, la FSFE remettra également le premier Scandinavian Free Software Award. Le trophée sera remis à une personne, un projet ou une organisation scandinave qui aura apporté une contribution remarquable à la cause et à l'esprit de libération de nos esprits. La remise de ce trophée deviendra ensuite annuelle.
