1.Georg Greve en Amérique du Sud
Georg Greve a poursuivi son voyage en Amérique du Sud en participant à plusieurs évènements à La Plata, Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo et Brasilia. 2.Wizards of OS
La troisième conférence des "Wizards of OS" a eu lieu à Berlin du 10 au 12 juin 2004. Georg Greve a participé à la partie consacrée au SMSI (Sommet Mondial de la Société de l'Information).
3.Firenze Tecnologia devient parrain de la FSF Europe
Dans le but de faciliter l'innovation technologique dans la région de Toscane et la province de Florence, Firenze Tecnologia (une société appartenant à la Chambre Économique de Florence) investit dans le Logiciel Libre pour l'innovation technologique en Toscane. De ce fait, Firenze Tecnologia a décidé de protéger son investissement en finançant le travail effectué par la FSF Europe pour la défense et la promotion du Logiciel Libre en Europe. Il s'agit d'un succès important pour les activités de la FSFE, puisque la donation fait partie d'un plan stratégique plus large pour soutenir l'innovation, au sein duquel le Logiciel Libre et la liberté jouent un rôle central.
4.Sources-switch, l'effort italien de coordination de communautés
Notre communauté a trop souvent dû faire face à des attaques extérieures. Vu l'importance croissante du Logiciel Libre dans tous les aspects de la vie, les membres des principales associations italiennes promouvant le Logiciel Libre ont fondé un groupe de travail commun, le "sources switch", destiné à la coordination et l'échange d'information. Jusqu'à présent les membres sont le chapitre Italie de la FSF Europe (FSFE-I), l'association Software Libero (AsSoLi), l'Italian Linux Society (ILS), ROSPA et le Consortium Italicum Ratione Soluta (CIRS). Le groupe de travail va mettre à disposition un cadre pour les évènements promotionnels de chaque association et va définir une stratégie commune pour en augmenter l'efficacité. Les membres participent en tant qu'individus aux travaux, mais se sont mis d'accord pour promouvoir leurs initiatives au sein de leurs associations respectives. Le groupe s'est réuni à Avellino du 28 au 30 avril ; parmi les résultats des discussions, on trouve un agenda initial, la création d'un secrétariat et d'un bureau de presse, une position commune concernant les brevets logiciels et les standards ouverts ainsi qu'un calendrier des prochaines rencontres.
5. Présentation de Matthias Kirschner
Matthias Kirschner a rejoint l'équipe de la FSF Europe comme assistant de Georg Greve. Il va principalement aider aux tâches administratives comme la modération de listes de courrier électronique ou la coordination des nombreux rendez-vous du président. Alors qu'il contribue actuellement comme volontaire, il va travailler comme interne de septembre 2004 à mars 2005.
6. GNU/Linuxtag à Karlsruhe (Allemagne)
GNU/Linuxtag est un des évènements majeurs du Logiciel Libre en Europe. Comme chaque année la FSF Europe était présente avec un stand bien fréquenté. Georg Greve et Bernhard Reiter (coordinateur pour l'Allemagne) on tenu des conférences sur les principes fondateurs du Logiciel Libre.
7. Renforcement du réseau Logiciels Libres global
La FSF Europe était heureuse de partager son stand au GNU/Linuxtag avec plusieurs personnes venant de l'extérieur de l'Europe. Federico Heinz est le président de Via Libre, une association argentine pour le Logiciel Libre. Hong Feng de Chine est l'éditeur du Free Software Magazine et Fumitoshi Ukai, Niibe Yutaka et Takatsugu Nokubi sont membres de la Free Software Initiative Japon. Cette possibilité d'échange mutuel d'expériences fut très positive, non seulement pour nos hôtes mais aussi pour la FSF Europe.
8. Manifestation contre les brevets logiciels
Plus de mille personnes ont protesté contre les brevets logiciels le 24 juin à Karlsruhe. Parmi d'autres orateurs, Georg Greve a exprimé l'espoir que l'Union Européenne ne cède pas à la pression du puissant lobby qui pousse pour une brevetabilité des algorithmes.
9. Présentation de l'équipe de traducteurs
Au vu de l'attrait grandissant dont bénéficie la FSF Europe dans beaucoup de pays, le besoin de construire une équipe de traducteurs flexible, rapide et bien coordonnée s'est fait sentir. La traduction et la relecture de textes est une contribution précieuse au travail de la FSF Europe et une excellente chance de participer spontanément aux activités de la FSF Europe sans obligations à long terme. 10.Demande de soutien
