1. Uno sguardo indietro e uno in avanti
Il 2006 è stato un anno eccitante per la comunità del Software Libero e per la FSFE.
La Free Software Foundation Europe è stata (ed è tuttora) coinvolta nel lavoro di preparazione della nuova versione della GPL, la licenza per Software Libero più usata al mondo, nell'iniziativa della Commissione Europea per impedire a Microsoft di abusare della propria posizione di monopolio, nel World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) dell'ONU, nell'Internet Governance Forum (IGF) dell'ONU, nella World Intellectual Property Organsiation (WIPO) e nel progetto "Scientific Education and Learning in Freedom" (SELF) finanziato dall'Unione Europea. Oltre a questo, la FSFE ha lanciato drm.info, un portale informativo sui pericoli del Digital Restriction Management.
Probabilmente il progetto più importante del prossimo anno sarà la Freedom Task Force (FTF), che fornirà informazione sulle caratteristiche delle licenze, supporto per il loro rispetto e servizi fiduciari nel campo del Software Libero.
Il 2007 sarà un anno importante per il Software Libero: altri attori importanti (come Sun e Novell) sposteranno una parte crescente delle loro attività nel campo del Software Libero e gli effetti di queste mosse, siano essi positivi o negativi, saranno sempre più evidenti. L'esistenza di un'organizzazione indipendente come la FSFE, che si mantiene focalizzata sugli obiettivi di lungo periodo, è essenziale perché l'ecosistema del Software Libero resti in equilibrio.
2. Georg Greve al "Nexell informiert"
Georg Greve ha tenuto un intervento dal titolo "Cos'è il Software Libero? Le soluzioni di Software Libero sono abbastanza professionali per le esigenze quotidiane?" durante il "Nexell informiert" di Zurigo. Il "Nexell informiert" è un incontro in cui vari esperti sono invitati a parlare sui temi del Software Libero, organizzata da Nexell, un gruppo indipendente di professionisti del CRM, di lingue e nazionalità diverse.
3. Attivatevi: unitevi alla Fellowship!
La Fellowship della FSFE è una comunità per la libertà digitale. Diventare Fellow è il modo più semplice e più diretto per supportare la Free Software Foundation Europe e il Software Libero in generale. I Fellow contribuiscono in tre modi: economicamente, dando risonanza alla voce della FSFE e, se vogliono, con lavoro volontario.
Per aiutare i Fellow nelle loro attività, la FSFE fornisce loro alcune infrastrutture: uno spazio per i blog su fsfe.org, un indirizzo mail alias, un account jabber e varie mailing list tematiche, a disposizione dei Fellow.
Ma probabilmente la cosa più carina che ogni Fellow riceve dalla FSFE è la smart card crittografica personalizzata compatibile con lo standard OpenPGP, che ognuno può utilizzare per proteggere la propria libertà e la propria privacy direttamente e da subito.
