Benvenuti alla newsletter di novembre della FSFE, eccezionalmente ricca questo mese. In Europa la FSFE è stata impegnata in presentazioni, incontri, corsi e beta pubbliche di nuova tecnologia. A livello mondiale abbiamo partecipato al recente incontro dell'Internet Governance Forum in Brasile.
Come sempre il lavoro della FSFE si è affiancato all'attività dei Fellow. Meritano particolare riconoscimento questo mese i Fellow di Nimega, Dusseldorf e Berlino per la partecipazione in discussioni su diversi temi. A Berlino è stato oggetto d'attenzione l'uso sempre maggiore del Software Libero su dispositivi mobili, mentre si è discusso sul Software Libero e le aziende a Dusseldorf e Nimega. 1. Forum per la Governance di Internet (IGF) delle Nazioni Unite
Il secondo Internet Governance Forum è stato ospitato dal governo brasiliano a Rio de Janeiro ed ha mostrato una forte enfasi sugli Standard Aperti come tema chiave, grazie anche al lavoro costante che la FSFE sta portando avanti negli anni e la buona collaborazione con molti gruppi nella Dynamic Coalition on Open Standards (DCOS). Georg Greve, presidente di FSFE, è stato molto impegnato nel partecipare alla conferenza pre-IGF Standards Edge del Bolin Group ed a vari workshop sul tema, inclusa la sessione dell'assemblea generale sulla sicurezza. Gli Standard Aperti avranno probabilmente un grande ruolo nel futuro lavoro dell'ONU.

2. Incontro STACS a Londra
Il 2 novembre la FSFE ha organizzato un incontro formativo per le organizzazioni della società civile, come parte del progetto STACS (FP6-2005-Science-and-Society-19-044597), per aumentare la conoscenza sul Software Libero e dimostrare il suo uso. La sessione si è svolta presso The Hub a Londra e vi ha partecipato una gran varietà di organizzazioni, provenienti dall'area metropolitana di Londra, dal resto del Regno Unito e da vari altri paesi europei. L'incontro è terminato con un invito di tutti i partecipanti a tenere varie sessioni simili per altre organizzazioni in altri posti in Europa.
3. Trophees du Libre 2007 a Soissons
I Trophees du Libre, organizzati da CETRIL, è il premio più grande al mondo per il Software Libero con varie categorie. Il 29 novembre ha visto la quarta edizione dei Trophees du Libre, tenutasi al Castello di Villeneuve Saint-Germain con partecipanti provenienti anche da posti distanti come Taiwan, Israele e Montreal. Già parte della giuria l'anno scorso, quest'anno il presidente di FSFE, Georg Greve, è stato invitato a presiedere la giuria ed a fare da moderatore per la cerimonia dei premi, mentre la stagista della FSFE Irina Dzhambazova ha sfruttato l'opportunità per conoscere nuovi progetti e sostenere l'evento al meglio delle possibilità.

4. Corsi a Stoccolma e Nimega
L'8 novembre la FTF in collaborazione con l'Internet Academy ha tenuto a Stoccolma in Svezia un corso sull'implementazione strategica del Software Libero in azienda. Il 26 la FTF e ATComputing hanno tenuto lo stesso corso a Nimega in Olanda. Attualmente la FTF offre corsi in Svizzera, Svezia ed Olanda e prevede l'espansione in altri paesi a breve. 5. Eventi della FTF a Linz, Losanna, Nimega e Dusseldorf
É stato un mese ricco di impegni per la FTF. Shane Coughlan, il coordinatore della FTF, ha tenuto un intervento sul Software Libero, le licenze ed i processi aziendali il 3 novembre ad elce2007 a Linz in Austria. Inoltre ha parlato per le Facoltà di Diritto ed Economia all'università di Losanna in Svizzera il 21 e 22, partecipato ad un incontro della Fellowship a Nimega in Olanda il 26, e tenuto un intervento per i Fellow di Dusseldorf sulle licenze del Software Libero ed i processi aziendali il 28. 6. Attività della FSFE in Svezia
Il team svedese della FSFE è stato impegnato questo mese nel tenere varie presentazioni su SELF ed il Software Libero in Svezia. La prima di queste si è svolta al Royal Institute of Technology a Stoccolma il 7 novembre, seguita da quella presso l'University College di Borås a Borås il 9, l'Umeå University ad Umeå il 12, la Mid Sweden University a Sundsvall il 19, la Karlstad University a Karlstad il 20 ed infine la Linköping University a Linköping il 21.
Tutti gli incontri hanno visto una bella partecipazione, con una miscela di studenti, insegnanti ed altri membri delle facoltà. Nelle presentazioni, è stata attribuita importanza anche al modo con cui SELF attualmente contribuisce non solo a promuovere l'educazione sul Software Libero, ma anche ad incoraggiare l'adozione della filosofia del Software Libero di condivisione e cooperazione in alte aree.
7. La Fellowship di Berlino discute sugli smartphone con Software Libero
Il 13 novembre si è svolto un incontro della Fellowship locale a Berlino. Il Fellow Robert Schuster ha dato una presentazione sulla rilevanza di OpenMoko per la comunità del Software Libero. C'è stata un'interessante discussione su ciò che questo significa per la libertà delle persone e sulle possibilità che queste libertà danno alle piccole e medie imprese per offrire servizi speciali ai loro clienti. Si è deciso che il gruppo della Fellowship di Berlino si incontrerà ogni secondo martedì del mese presso il negozio Newthinking. Dopo l'incontro i partecipanti sono andati in un pub per conoscersi meglio.

8. La FSFE sta rivedendo le informazioni sui brevetti software
Abbiamo iniziato a rivedere le informazioni pubblicate sulle nostre pagine web. C'è una discussione via via crescente sui brevetti software all'interno delle istituzioni, perciò stiamo procedendo a questa revisione. Alcuni aggiornamenti sono già pubblicati, e nelle prossime settimane continueremo a fornire maggiore documentazione sullo stato attuale e riassunti di quello che si è appreso e quello che è già successo.

9. Beta pubblica e bug fixing di SELF
Dopo il lancio della versione beta pubblica della piattaforma SELF, il team di sviluppo sta lavorando ampiamente al bug fixing ed all'implementazione delle funzionalità mancanti della piattaforma. Tuttavia è necessario ancora molto lavoro in quest'area, e se volete aiutare vi incoraggiamo a provare la piattaforma all'indirizzo http://www.selfplatform.eu/ e segnalare qualsiasi bug incontriate.
10. Intervista con Werner Koch
Per i nostri lettori tedeschi c'è qualcosa di gradito questo mese. Gulli ha intervistato Werner Koch, creatore di GnuPG ed uno dei co-fondatori di FSFE. Werner ci dà la sua visione sul tema della sicurezza ed il Software Libero.

11. Free Software Conference Scandinavia, Goteborg, Svezia
La FSFE sta organizzando la Free Software Conference Scandinavia (FSCON), che si terrà a Goteborg in Svezia il 7 ed 8 dicembre 2007. É il primo evento di questo genere nella regione, ispirato dal fermento sempre più crescente attorno al Software Libero.
12. FSFE informa sui temi della privacy e della libertà a Schwetzingen
La Direttiva europea sulla conservazione dei dati è stata adottata nella legislazione tedesca ed entrerà in vigore a gennaio 2008. E ci sono altre minacce come la legislazione "anti-hacker", sulla ricerca in rete o la carta elettronica sanitaria. Per questo motivo la FSFE sta organizzando un evento per informare sui rischi futuri per la privacy e la libertà.
