Gennaio è stato un mese pieno di attività sia a livello base della comunità sia nei più ampi aspetti dell'infrastruttura legale del Software Libero. I gruppi locali della Fellowship a Berlino e Dusseldorf sono veramente attivi, e la Fellowship di Dusseldorf sta progettano di espandersi verso le città limitrofe, durante i prossimi mesi. Nel frattempo, FSFE e gpl-violations.org hanno consolidato la loro collaborazione per garantire un uso legittimo delle licenze del Software Libero in Europa.
Questo è un ottimo momento per diventare più attivi con FSFE e la Fellowship, soprattutto se siete interessati a promuovere attività locali per gli entusiasti del Software Libero o per nuovi membri della nostra comunità. 1. GPL-violations.org e la Freedom Task Force di FSFE pianificano nuove collaborazioni per il futuro
Il 31 gennaio, i rappresentanti di gpl-violations.org e della FTF di FSFE si sono incontrati a Berlino per discutere sul futuro del rispetto delle licenze nell'area Europea. Harald Welte e Armijn Hemel hanno discusso sulle prospettive del riuscito progetto gpl-violations.org, mentre Shane Coughlan ha rappresentato FSFE. Il Dr. Till Jaeger ha partecipato ad una delle sessioni portando nel discorso la sua notevole esperienza legale. Gpl-violations.org e la FTF di FSFE si sono accordate per collaborare strettamente per garantire un uso equo, comprensione e responsabilità nell'utilizzo di licenze per il Software Libero.

2. NLnet continua a sostenere la Freedom Task Force di FSFE
La fase iniziale della FTF è stata resa possibile grazie al supporto dell'organizzazione filantropica olandese NLnet. Oggi, la rete tecnico-legale di FTF copre sedici paesi Europei, ha più di settanta membri ed include contatti da USA, Canada, Australia, Corea del Sud e Taiwan. La FTF fornisce corsi di formazione in Svizzera, in cooperazione con Digicomp, in Svezia con Internet Academy e in Olanda con ATComputing. Ora, appena dopo dodici mesi di crescita continua, NLnet fornirà una seconda fase di supporto economico per questo innovativo progetto legale.

Il gruppo della Fellowship di Berlino si è incontrato, come al solito, al Newthinking Store e ha ospitato un discorso di Hannes Hauswedell sul sistema operativo Free BSD. Il discorso si è incentrato sulle varianti di BSD come possibile sistema operativo Libero, sulle differenze che le varie versioni BSD hanno e sulle politiche che i progetti BSD hanno nei confronti dell'adozione del Software Libero.
Se siete interessati ad unirvi agli incontri, la Fellowship di Berlino si incontra ogni secondo giovedì del mese presso il Newthinking Store: Tucholskystr. 48, 10117 Berlino.
4. Incontro della Fellowship di Dusseldorf e progetti sugli eventi futuri
Come al solito la Fellowship di Dusseldorf si è incontrata e ha discusso attività future. Questo ha incluso anche un'interessante e costruttiva discussione sull'allestimento di uno stand durante la giornata del Lavoro, il 1 maggio in Dusseldorf. La Fellowship condividerà lo stand con altre organizzazioni. Chaosdorf e.V. (il gruppo locale CCC, http://www.chaosdorf.de) potrebbe partecipare. La Fellowship ha inoltre pianificato incontri in altre città come Cologne e Roermond/NL per aumentare i contatti con gli altri Fellow.

5. Incontro della FSFE a Göteborg, Svezia
Il gruppo svedese di FSFE ha organizzato un piccolo incontro, il 28 gennaio, per coloro che sono interessati alle attività di FSFE. Alcune delle questioni affrontate hanno riguardato la pubblicazione dei video registrati durante la FSCONS di dicembre, ed in generale l'editing e mastering dei video.
6. Il concorso Open Documentary di SELF
Il progetto SELF (Science, Education and Learning in Freedom) ha annunciato il concorso SELF Open Documentary, in cui individui e compagnie sono invitate a "creare un video sulla creazione di sapere libero ed educazione in un'era digitale". Il concorso si svolgerà fino alla fine di maggio 2008, e i vincitori saranno presentati durante la conferenza SELF di luglio 2008, in Spagna.

7. Discorso di Richard Stallman sulla filosofia e la storia del Software Libero a Berlino, 2008-02-18
Lunedì 18 febbraio alle 19:00, Richard M. Stallman, fondatore del progetto GNU e della FSF, terrà un discorso presso il mediacentre - Atrium, Johannisstrasse 20, in 10117 Berlin-Mitte. Parlerà della storia e della filosofia del Software Libero. Il gruppo della Fellwoship di Berlino avrà un piccolo stand e informerà gli ospiti sui gruppi locali e sulle attività di FSFE in Germania e in Europa. L'ingresso apre alle 18:30. Il costo d'entrata è 5 EUR.
8. Preparazione del FOSDEM, Bruxelles, 2008-02-23 e 2008-02-24
Molti in FSFE si stanno preparando per il settimo viaggio di FSFE al FOSDEM. Come in anni precedenti, ha ricevuto ampio spazio proprio all'entrata principale. Il FOSDEM è uno dei due più grandi eventi sul Software Libero in cui i membri, amici, e dipendenti di FSFE si possono incontrare insieme alla comunità del Software Libero. Inoltre è un'opportunità per acquistare magliette o altro materiale di FSFE, così come di unirsi alla Fellwoship di FSE - che è stata lanciata al FOSDEM nel 2005.
Se sarete presenti all'evento o nelle sue vicinanze, fermatevi per un saluto! Il FOSDEM è veramente un evento orientato verso la comunità, con nessun costo d'ingresso, ma con la possibilità di lasciare donazioni se avete piacere.
9. Conferenza "Standard e il futuro di internet", Ginevra, 2008-02-26
Shane Coughlan, coordinatore della Freedom Task Force di FSFE, condurrà un'eclatante sessione per discutere questioni relative alle licenze presso la conferenza "Standard e il futuro di internet", che si terrà a Ginevra, Svizzera, il 26 e 27 febbraio. La conferenza sarà ospitata presso l'International Conference Centre e tra i relatori già confermati sono presenti Vint Cerf, Carlo Piana, Thomas Vinje e Jeremy Allison.
10. Discorso sulla shell sicura alla Fellowship di Dusseldorf, Dusseldorf, 2008-02-27
Patrick Haehnel terrà un discorso presso la Fellowship di Dusseldorf il 27 febbraio. Titolo del suo intervento "Dimenticate il coltellino svizzero! - Shell sicura - trucchi e segreti."
