Press release: Boston, MA, USA - Tuesday, August 2, 2005 - The Free Software Foundation (FSF) and the GNU project today announced the request for nominations for the 2005 FSF Award for the Advancement of Free Software. This award is presented to a person who has made a great contribution to the progress and development of free software, through activities that accord with the spirit of software freedom (as defined in the Free Software Definition[1]).
Last year's winner Theo de Raadt was recognized for his work as founder and project leader of the OpenBSD and OpenSSH projects. Theo joined a prestigious list of previous winners including Alan Cox, Miguel de Icaza, Donald Knuth, Larry Lessig, Brian Paul, Guido van Rossum, Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds, and Larry Wall.
