Jag ligger på igen. Söndagen och tisdagen var en knepig dag för DN. I alla fall sett från mitt håll.
Visst är det bra om tex barn får vaccin. Det borde vara självklart att barnen får detta. Detta brev handlar inte om vaccin eller moraliska aspekter på välgörenhet.
Men om man granskar sättet som de pengar som betalat detta vaccin är tjänade på samt (återigen) hur licenserna fungerar för u-länderna tycker jag mig kunna se en annan bild av företaget. Hur mycket pengar tjänar företaget i fråga på licenser för tredje världen och hur mycket ges tillbaka.
Vad får dessa länder göra med programmen när de lärt sig dem?
Kan de vidareutveckla programmen själva?
Kan de ge bort kopior till små skolor som skall försöka sig på att satsa på IT?
Kan programmen köra på "gamla" datorer, vilka ofta är de enda som dessa länder har råd med?
Misstolka mig inte. Detta är ingen vendetta mot vare sig personen Bill Gates eller företaget som han jobbar på. Jag spenderar mycket tid på att hjälpa till med att sprida information om fri programvara och de effekter som fri programvara och proprietär programvara har på samhället och blir upprörd när ni (DN) skriver sådana saker.

Det är rätt att det går ingen nöd på mig. Men, jag föreslår att du tittar på ett land som brasilien och ser efter (kanske tom frågar dem) vilka de anser vara vinnarna på fri programvara.
Tex, hur hanterade företaget i fråga Brasiliens val av fri programvara i stället för företagets proprietära program/os?
Det finns fler U-länder som förmodligen inte betraktar fri programvara som något som bara gagnar västvärlden. Tex har man i latinamerikanska länder byggt många internet-kaffeer där GNU /Linux användes. Dessa system användes av medborgare i respektive land. "vinnarna är personer i västvärlden som det inte går någon större nöd på." Stämmer detta på dessa internetkaffeer och dessa användare?
Varför valde internetkaffeerna att inte använda Microsofts produkter?
Fick man inte bra licensvillkor?
Var det för dyrt?

Jag tror att man hjälper U-länder bäst genom att göra kortsiktiga insatser (tex vaccin) OCH långsiktiga insatser (tex hjälpa dem att bygga upp en egen IT-struktur som de själva äger och har kontroll över).
