Also, dann installiert mal alle ganz fleißig Libreboot. ;)
Wie wäre es denn mit einer session zu libre-boot auf dem FSFEsummit? Inhalte könnten sein:
- Warum Libre Boot?
- Wie geht das?
- Wie kann man helfen oder Hilfe anbieten (siehe Flashdays unten)
- Prognosen
In dieser Runde geht meine Anfrage wenn ich es richtig im Kopf habe vor allem an Kai und Tomás, richtig?

Erstmal herzlichen dank für diesen link auf das gut gemachte libreboot-howto! Es ist wirklich sehr vollständig und hält auch für mich viel neues bereit.
In diesem Zusammenhang möchte ich euch auf unseren open-hardware chip-flasher aufmerksam machen, für den wir gerade eine passende domain aufbauen. Mit etwas Glück werden wir bis zu unser Bewerbung für den FSFE-Summit (deadline 29. Mai) soweit sein.
Einer libreboot-flash-session mit echtem open-hardware controller (Parallax Propeller-1, GPLv3) auf dem Summit stünde von uns aus nichts im wege und wäre eine wunderschöne Alternative zum herkömmlichen Flashen mit Raspi oder BBB (BeagleBoneBlack). Den X200 flashen wir bereits mit dem Propeller in unserem Hackerspace.
Im Rahmen unseres open-hardware projektes möchten wir in kürze folgendes in berlin anbieten:
- Libreboot-X200er zum Ausleihen und Kennenlernen - individueller flash-service 1x im monat, pay what you want - verkauf von bereits geflashten laptops - verkauf unserer true open design chip flasher - gratis download der quellen (free software/ open hardware)
In der Zürcher FSFE Gruppe gibt es aber auch großes Interesse an diesem Thema [1]. Dort werden auch Flash Days organisiert [2] und den Menschen geholfen ihr System mit Libreboot zu verwenden. Vielleicht könnte man zusammen eine Session gestalten? Deshalb habe ich @Zürich ins CC genommen.
Eine gemeinsame session wäre schön! Zur zeit flashen wir von einem libreboot-X60 aus, nutzen den seriellen port der docking station, beschreiben den SPI-BIOS-chip mittels Propeller und Test-Clip. Power kommt ausschliesslich vom USB-Port des X60. Das Auslesen eines 8MB-chips dauert etwa 40min, das schreiben eines Libreboot-Images benötigt zur Zeit 15min (Motorola S-record, 115200 baud). Auf schnellere USB-funktionalität verzichten wir bisher, da die entsprechenden chips von FTDI nicht als open hardware zur verfügung stehen.
Falls sich jemand an unserem projekt beteiligen möchte, wir treffen uns in der regel immer dienstags 18:00 Uhr in berlin-prenzlauer berg. Es gibt noch viel zu tun.

PS: sobald wir online sind, würde ich hier gerne eine kurze notiz posten!
PPS: Warum Libreboot? Eine entscheidende Motivation könnte sein, den Managability Engine (ME) des Motherboards auszuschalten; gern würde ich in einem Fellowship-Meeting-Vortrag zum Thema BIOS/Libreboot darauf eingehen, vielleicht jetzt im Juli oder August.
