"May be you don't think the two things are linked."

As far as I am concerned this list is about the IFSO and issues pertaining to the IFSO. The
article you posted in my opinion had no direct relevance to any of these issues. If a story
about software patents in Europe got posted to indymedia.ie then I would be interested in
hearing about that. I take your point and agree with you about the issues raised in the
article having some connection to the issues raised on this list but in my opinion indymedia
and sites like it are the correct place to raise these connections and not the IFSO list.
Why ? Because Indymedia deals with general news and the IFSO list deals with a very specific
set of issues. Dealing with issues relating to the IFSO's cause but which are not directly
addressed by the IFSO is all fine and good up to a certain point but you don't want to lose
focus by starting arguments between people who may or may not have different opinions on
issues not relating to the IFSO.

"This I find unusual but I haven't lived in Ireland since '87 so I don't really know what's
cool and what's not. I suppose even back then I'd have got a different response from my
mates in Dalkey / Killiney as I would to those from Finglass ... or some parts of Dun
Laoghaire say."

Ok fair enough but what's this got to do with the ifso or any of the
issues the ifso raises?

It concerns this:

May be you don't think the two things are linked. This I find unusual but I haven't lived in
Ireland since '87 so I don't really know what's cool and what's not. I suppose even back
then I'd have got a different response from my mates in Dalkey / Killiney as I would to
those from Finglass ... or some parts of Dun Laoghaire say.

Anyway, my reason for posting on this subject follows my thread of thought here (last
paragraph):

(I read James' reply and take his point).

I do stuff for IMC and forget that some folk tend to keep stuff seperate.

All the best
