[Fsfe-ie] UK copyrights to be extended to 100 years...

Hi All,

Saw this on ILUG:


"The [UK] government wants to extend copyright laws to ensure pop songs 
are protected for almost twice as long as the current 50 years.

It sees the move as a way of generating more money for the record 
industry, which would use it to discover new talent."

The article contains no criticism of this proposal. You can bet that the 
EU would be happy to "harmonise" this arrangement to other EU members 
and to other fields of creative activity.
