I spoke to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment on Friday
about this.

The person I spoke with wasn't the person in charge of the IPRED2 directive,
but they told me that Ireland was against the criminalisation of patent
infringement, and that many countries in the EU were, so although he didn't
know if the person in charge had submitted a request for removal of patents,
he wouldn't be surprised if they had.

He also said that this is a contentious issue, and the jurisdiction of the
EU to impose criminal sanctions at all is still in debate, so this issue
will not be settled too quickly.

I wanted to follow up on this this morning, but I didn't get time.
