Instructions from Paul O'Malley for registering yourself.  AFAICT, this
isn't necessary, but it means you can reserve your nickname:


first you need to register your nickname on freenode

/msg nickserv register YOURircPASSWORD

Then when you join the network you need to identify to the network

/msg nickserv identify YOURircPASSWORD

If your using x-chat I can talk you though using it to automate the sign on
